The online access to the Exchange is now open to most everyone that served

My dad is a long time Marine (24+ years) and I was in the AF from 73 to 77. He gets a lot of military related emails and forwarded me on the news about this. I was able to sign up for online access to the exchange stores. Here's the blurb and link:

Veterans can now verify their online shopping eligibility at VetVerify.org. The Exchanges are also accepting some veterans as beta testers before opening the doors to all veterans. See updates below for more information.

I was verified and also selected to beta test. Still looking around the sites to compare prices and such.

The only thing I didn't like about the site is that they wanted my full SSI they said they couldn't verify me with just the last 4 digits, so I didn't sign up.

Let us know if it is worth it. I know when I was in (66 to 70) you could by a lot of stuff cheaper at the local places. You had to compare.

Tried But Too Soon?

I have two BIL's with PX privileges. One lost his legs in VN and the other one was a career NCO. They told me about the sign up site last week and I tried it. It took all my information but wouldn't complete the process, maybe I was too early so I will try it again this week.

It is my understanding that their prices are pretty good plus you never pay tax on your purchases.

I signed up and it worked fine for me. Did most of my Christmas shopping there and saved on taxes along with free shipping because I used the Military Star credit card that they offer also. Was able to get a sweet deal on a 4K TV.
