John has a long Mustache........

The long sobs of the violins of autumn 'Wound my heart with a monotonous languor....

The Longest Day.....

No idea what it means but it is a poem by Paul Verlaine, apparently one of the greatest mid 1800s french poets (according to google)... I feel somehow enlightened now...

Autumn Song by Paul Verlaine

With long sobs

the violin-throbs

of autumn wound my heart with languorous and montonous sound. Choking and pale

When I mind the tale the hours keep, my memory strays down other days and I weep; and I let me go where ill winds blow now here, now there, harried and sped, even as a dead leaf, anywhere.

From the Poet's point of view his heart and mind are like the dying leaves of autumn. He uses it as an analogy of his depression and sorrow. What he is feeling is persistently dulling his mind and heart as though they were leaves withering from its branch. The reason for his sorrow is purposely left for personal identification and perception so one can relate to individual conditions that depress and dulls the senses.
