Just finished the top

It was a lot of small spot welding

welded he bottom and flipped it over to see the top

I wanted to use a crank and flywheel for the base but the only ones I have are in good shape so I don't want to destroy them

Need to think about the base more

That's a clever use for odds 'n ends parts. I like that, very creative. :clapping:

So how high should it be?

The only thing I have to go by here are table trays and some end tables

Got plans for another one in my head now

28 to 30 Inches......So split the difference 29 inches...:)

In the end it came out to be 24 1/2 lowest and 26 7/8 highest

I used a 1 inch bolt in the center to make it adjustable.

I should have bought a longer bolt to make it adjust higher. But it fits good next to my chair

All you have to do is turn the top to screw it up and down

I used VW Cylinders and a flywheel as a base.

Welding the Cyls was a pain. The top of the Cyls are thick, the bottoms are thin.

The thin part kept cracking as it cooled down.

Had to do a spot weld then lit it cool the do another and so on

I also added some rebar supports between the cyls
