Looking for some advise from you Texan's or anybody that has done some riding in the Texas Hill Country.

Our crew of 4 are looking to take the trip Spring of 2019.

We will be there for a week, is there enough rides to keep us busy that long, we usually do 200 miles a day or so.

What would be the best time to go, we are thinking April?

Looking for a place to call "Home Base" for the week, we will need room to park a dually with a 32' trailer.

There will be 4 guys on this trip so looking for a cabin with a couple bedrooms and 4 beds.

Lot's of questions I know but you all have the answers, I'm just a flat lander from Kansas looking for some twisty stuff.

Look up 'butlermaps.com' and order a Texas Hill Country motorcycle map of the area. Guaranteed you will find most of the information you're looking for there. Rides for every taste from the wild and aggressive to the mild and leisurely, and more. No visit would be complete without riding the 'sisters'. There's also Texas-Trails.com that provide maps for several counties in the area.

Also, the gold mine, visit 'visitfredricksburgtx.com'. There you will find gobs and piles of information that you can obtain covering just about everything there is to know about places, things, goings on, etc., etc., etc. Your problem is going to be trying to decide between which of the things you want to do unless you live there or can stay an extended period of time. You're not even going to leave a mark in a week.

The wife and I spent 6 weeks in Kerrville, Tx last January and February. There's plenty of great riding in the area, including the Three (Twisted) Sisters. We stayed at the KOA...great folks and good prices. Enjoy!

Edit: The KOA owner is a rider, and has maps of his favorite rides.

Gee Delbert...wish you could make the TrikeTalk Texas Hill Country meet and greet this coming October instead if waiting til next year. We have LOTS of fun. There are more campground facilities than you can shake a stick at. Plenty of riding roads and good food.

Have fun planning your trip. You won’t be disappointed.

Thanks to all for the help.

Put this on your agenda also:

BTW, if you stop in N.W. Arkansas on your way to Texas we have proper training roads for twisties. As a matter of fact, you might get bored in Texas. :D

I have been properly trained in Arkansas and on the "Dragon", 318 curves in 11 miles.

We were in the Harrison / Jasper area last fall, base camp was just south of Harrison.

Our first trip to Jasper from base was to get breakfast one morning, we had the wick turned up, nice eye opener in the morning.

Arkansas has the twisties.

:welcome:to the Group Delbert! We have family in Kansas. Texas has some very nice riding roads. I think you will find the Fredericksburg/ Kerrville area an excellent choice. I have included some of the many links to some information we have use in the past.

April is a great time to ride Texas and you will find many riders enjoying our roads. With that said, I offer this advice Spring can have some very heavy rainstorms. The rivers in the hill country can rise to dangerous levels and flash flood quickly. Just beware of the weather when you are here and have a great time. Let us know when you are in the area. Always glad to help!

Howdy Delbert :wave4:

Really can't add much more to what the others have thrown down. There's some great riding here! Maybe once you've finalized your plans you could let us locals know when and where in the Hill Country you will be. We could meet up and do a ride...ya know, a meet and greet with your fellow Trike Talk members :D keep us posted and we'll be seeing you around

Can you give me more information on the Meet & Greet this coming October.

Dates?

What will you all be doing?

What is the host motel and rates?

I would like to attend if possible.

Here ya' go... there are 2 threads out here on it. Fredericksburg (22 miles up the road) is having a big festival that same weekend - hotel rooms will be at a premium. You can always reserve now and cancel later. Be SURE to tell the hotel you are with the TrikeTalk special rate group. The host hotel is the Super8 in Kerrville. If you make reservations call the hotel directly in Kerrville. Making them online gets kind-of "iffy".

We will be at http://medinahighpointresort.com from feb 15 to march 15. They have a nice campground and cabins that make a good base, with bar/restaurant and entertainment. Its on Hwy 16 between Kerrville and Medina, five miles to 337, the base road of the 3 sisters. Get a butler map. It's worth the $15

The ride between Kerrville and Medina on highway 16 offers some amazing sights. Just be sure to pay as much attention to your driving as the view - fifteen miles per hour is excessive at some places.

And up on 337 there is 1, if not 2, “curves” with a 5mph sign.

And then there is the big sign that tells you how many motorcycle deaths have been recorded along it.... so, its fun but you got to pay attention...

I ride those everyday. Wife knows what they look like, I'm busy turning corners. Didn't even recognize them when I rode shotgun in a car

Seems I had the same experience. Only really remember the HUGE white house atop a far away hill, and wondering about the drive getting there.
