How tall is the rear spacer under the rear of the tank? I was thinking of installing a 1 1/2 lift up front. I am thinking about lifting the rear also. I don't want the seat pushing me in the crotch area any more than it is already.

IMO I would keep it equal front and trear

It was my understanding that the deluxe kit they offer raises the rear the same as the front.

I plan on ordering the 1.5 lift for my Freewheeler.

Kevin from DK Custom is always willing to help.

You can email him on their website.

I have a 1 1/2 lift on the front and the deluxe kit I have is 1/2 inch. I felt squeezed until I adjusted the position of the tank. I was able to adjust the tank all the way forward and I had no clearance issues. I had the front raised with tire off the floor and that made it easy to check for clearance. Jim

Thanks for the reply. Guess if I need to raise it higher I'll hit the hardware store. Do you get the air to go under the tank with the 1 1/2 lift kit?

Remember the the front of your seat slides into a tab on the rear of the tank. SO you can not get to carried away with the rear lift. I got 1/2 inch and that worked fine.

Not knocking any product but I temporarily raised the front of the tank

1 1/2 and went for a ride and couldn't tell any difference. Did I do something wrong? Maybe you don't feel much with only the 1 1/2 in raise? Thanks for your replies.

Just saw this thread-

The Deluxe Option (rear tank lift) raises the rear of the tank 1/2".

Most folks are comfortable with that, a few feel a bit cramped.

This kit comes with the 1/2" spacers and longer bolts. If you wanted to add a couple of washers, to make it a bit higher, the bolts supplied are long enough for that.

A 1.5" Tank Lift will lower engine temps by 10* or more. It will also reduce the amount of air coming over the top of the tank and hitting the rider in the chest.

A 2" might reduce the engine temp another degree or so, and will definitely reduce the air coming over the top front of the tank a bit more than the 1.5" Tank Lift.

There are two reasons any Tank Lift reduces engine temps:

1. Air flow over engine

2. Equally/possibly more important, it lifts the tank up so that it is no longer trapping heat like it does in the factory configuration.

Harley finally figured this out on the 2018 Softails....all of them come from the factory with the tank lifted so it no longer is trapping heat.

In this photo you can see how the tank encompasses & traps engine heat-

In this photo, with a 2" Tank Lift and Deluxe Option, the difference is significant & obvious.

Thanks Kevin. I was just wondering as I didn't want my nether regions any more squashed than their are now. Big guys don't have a lot of room in the saddle area.

Getting the tank as forward as it will go and have clearance helps. I also added DK wind deflectors, pushes the wind down on the engine. I also removed the left heat protector to help the air escape instead of being trapped. I also added the DK dual cool, relocation of oil filter and added an oil cooler.

The good thing about the changes, everything can be removed if you are not happy and put back to factory.

I put the 1-1/2" lift on the front with the Delux kit which raised the rear 1/2" on my Freewheeler. With the seat adjusted as far forward as possible it is comfortable. The 1/2" rise in the rear is enough to keep the fuel gauge fairly accurate and use almost all of the gas in the tank. I always refuel around 150 - 175 miles anyway so I never let the gas level get almost empty. The 1-1/2" lift kit with the Delux Kit for the rear lets more air flow over the engine and makes it easier to clean the rocker boxes. I think it is a good upgrade well worth the money.

They all add a little and work synergistically to make a Huge improvement, both for you and the performance & longevity of the engine! Report HERE.

You're right, everything can be put back to stock should the need ever arise...or if you want to migrate the parts to a new ride.
