They had a car and bike show today, good turn out, had good food also which I didn't partake, line was way to long to stand in line. While inside I seen one of the owners and talked to him about doing work on my trike, he told me I could do anything I wanted to but it would void my warranty which I told him I knew, told him I have the other warranty I bought from them, he said that is good as long as my factory warranty is gone, if not they go by what the factory warranty says.

I have to wait until September of 2020 for my factory warranty to expire and then I can do what I what to it. He told me the digital tech they use more than ever now and it goes right to harley when hook up, so they can tell what tuner you have, no hiding it what so ever according to him, I also ask him about a trailer hitch and he said harley is against it as I already knew, but he said the digital can't pick that up so I guess I good to go on that count anyway, since I traded 2 other bikes in for this triglide, should have kept the road king with hitch so I could haul my trailer, oh well, trailer sits in shed until I can haul I guess.

P.S. He also said I could add things to motor as long as it was screaming eagle and still keep my warranty, filter and exhaust has to be screaming eagle to keep warranty, I told him I would be using after market stuff, not screaming eagle and also I would be using power vision instead their harley tuner, he said the harley tuner is pretty good, I don't know if anyone has it or not so I can't say one way or the other if it is good or not

The urge to upgrade your motor performance can bite you in the butt real quick while still under factory warranty and using aftermarket upgrades.

Based on what he told you, let me run this by you. I put on after market slip-on mufflers plus a K&N flow thru air cleaner (kept original OEM air box). No tuner, Harley or otherwise.

So while under regualar Harley factory warranty if something goes wrong with my motor, Harley will use that as an excuse to not fix it?

On the other hand, at the 25 month mark if something goes wrong and I'm into my extended service plan it is no big deal and the extended service plan from Harley will fix it?

How about now when still under factory warranty if I had them put a Harley tuner on it. If my motor took a crap with my slip-ons, my K&N filter, plus my Harley tuner would they still refuse to pay for repairs?

Yes from what he told me, if your mufflers were harley mufflers it would be covered, aftermarket mufflers would void it, really depends on the dealer also.

At the 25 month mark if something happened my extended would fix it since Harley warranty has run out and this is from one of the owners, the extended won't cover if the harley warranty is still in effect and harley refuses to fix, the extended goes by what harley said, otherwise they would fix it under the extended if harley has expired, going by what he said, basically it is a crap shoot with harley.

If motor took a crap and you had all that done with a harley tuner, a K&N filter which harley sells to you, but had aftermarket mufflers, they could refuse to fix it because of aftermarket mufflers, don't sound right because IMHO mufflers isn't going to cause any trouble with motor. Basically what it comes down to is harley wants to sell you everything but then figure out a way to screw you out of your warranty.

We also discussed the big fine that the EPA gave harley, with the changes that harley has to do now to keep safe with the EPA and not get fined again is what happening to harley. I told him you can't get any young people involved in harley because of all the rules that the EPA has laid on them and no one really wants to have all screaming eagle stuff on their bike, and I told him I'm one of them, told him I wished I would have kept my other 2 bikes that I traded in and I could do anything to them.

He said harley has a head pipe without the cat but he said it is expensive but then your mufflers that you put on from harley has the cat in it, go figure, can't win or lose with harley and maybe that is why harley isn't doing as good as once was, just can't get the young crowd in and the old crowd like me just keep on trucking with harley no matter what

I remember a post that Kevin said when he put on his oil relocation filter the dealer said that would void his warranty, can't see how but that is what that dealer said and not sure if that is a harley standard or not, they do have some good dealers out there, but not as many as they used to, we have had 1 dealer here in Iowa that had 2 stores in different towns close up, not sure why, never did here, is this a sign of the future, if it is harley better figure what to do and stay in business, we don't want another AMF take over from some other company

All for now Trampas

Guess I'll hold my breath and hope I don't need the 2 year factory warranty for anything.

I have owned numerous Harleys. Over the years I have also switched back to metric bikes and stayed on them for several years at a time. Since 2010 I have been back on HD and had planned on staying.

Even though I am just one old customer I can guarentee HD one thing. If something happened to my current 19 and they refused to fix it because of some BS, I would fix it and sell it immediately and my old a$$ would never sit on another one of their products!

I really don't think Harley cares. They're too big to care what a few of us think. Look at the crap they're selling now, bikes and accessories. Don't get me started on prices and attitudes. $29K for the Live wire??? WTF twice the cost of any other electric bike. But they will sell everything they make so why should they care.

They even had a FANTASTICALLY GREAT thing going with the ABC's of Touring contest - then they completely screwed it up that now no one wants to participate in it.

Oh well, at least I'm at the age that I can HONESTLY say "I'll never buy another Harley"

I agree, HD doesn't really care what a bunch of old time riders think. However, if the day ever comes when they screw me over on a factory warranty issue then it may cost me a couple dollars to change over, but I'll have some fun with it when it is all said and done.

Except for wintering in SW Florida we are constantly traveling the U.S. I pull a 24' enclosed trailer with my Trike and car inside. I will have the back of the trailer professionaly done with some type of ad, for example:

HARLEY DAVIDSON DOES NOT HONOR THEIR FACTORY WARRANTY

THAT IS WHY I RIDE AN INDIAN

Would probably take my 20 Harley tee shirts and have something a little nastier put on the back of them. Again, Harley wouldn't care but I would have fun with it.

When i called/talked to a Harley rep at their HQ....About my 2017 Tri and said before i open a lemon law case, Why not just give me another 17 that's sitting in the showroom....Their answer was two fold....

1] If we did that for you we would have to for everyone with that problem [Oil migration]

2].....Have a good day and they said they will not talk to me direct any more and hung up..

Thats their privilege....And mine also to never own a Harley again...And thats after owning 4 new ones over the last ten years...

Although i'm not a huge fan of the Indian styling,if they offered a factory trike i would trade for one today. And i know i can buy one and have a conversion installed i just like the idea of everything being under one warranty.

I have given all my repair orders to a Lemon law lawyer and they are reviewing my case.So far this trike has had 9 warranty clams and has been in the shop for almost 50 days total,so will wait and see what they say.

Rhino i was buying a couple new bikes a year back in the 90's,finally slowed down in 2001,kept that Road Glide until 2012 then traded for another Road Glide.Kept it until 2016 when i got my first Tri Glide,Road it from May of 2016 until September of 2016 then got this 2017 Tri Glide. But do you think HD cares NOPE.I have not called corp about any of these issues because they just have a bank of people up there that give you the same blah, blah, blah Bull.... May end not having a case so nothing ventured nothing gained.

That’s what I thought Indian was headed for , being they dropped the victory line. But with a sales drop , don’t think it’s gona happen . Was hoping for a IRS set up to give HD some competition.

Why Indian doesn't do it is anyones guess.... If Honda did it that would be the slow death knell of most conversions shops.........

Honda missed the boat. Unless the demand was not in Japan. Never could understand big business

I'm just wondering how many Indians are being sold....If i've see two on the road since Polaris bought the name that was a lot......

And Not if but when the next Stock Market Bubble breaks....That will be the end of 35/40 Thousand dollar bike sales...

Other than motor cross shows , no one has been doing much advertising. The only thing that holds HD owners is the availability of dealerships close to each other all over the USA. The backyard mechanic is dying off , that’s us !! The guppies have trouble sharpening pencils.

I read somewhere that the Japanese invented a self sharpening ✏️ Pencil 😄

One of the young guys at work walked up to my bench while i was drawing up a sketch for a part i needed to make and said, wow you still use one of those, referring to my old style pencil.Needless to say he didnt stick around long.

Its called the mechanical pencil. They are a little late on that one.

Back in the 70's the Japanese invented Shovels and Brooms that stood up by themselves... The Highway workers union's banded together and had the Government outlaw them....They said that It was taken jobs away from the union road crews.....:D...
