I'm considering a set of TAB 4-in mufflers for my Tri glide. I'm not sure which baffle I want, the standard baffle or the zombie baffle. I want the low rumble but not the obnoxious sound. Anyone who is running these let me know your opinion. Thanks.

I’m running the 4.5” BAM sticks and actually went with the Zombie baffles (straight thru baffle) and also ordered the medium baffles. I absolutely love the zombie baffles, but they are certainly loud, but it’s a good loud!
(NOTE: I’m also decatted, so it will also be louder if your cat is out).

So out of curiosity, I did swap over the medium baffles (which are louvered and have a layer of fiberglass wrapped around) and was disappointed on how quiet it was!
The wife laughed and said to get the Zombies back in.

Now… with that said, I was JUST at the TAB performance booth here at Ocean City bike week and they suggested to take the fiberglass layer off the medium baffles and that should probably give you that “in between” sound.

Hope it helps!

Are you using a tuner? If so which one?

No tuner…. Yet.
I JUST found out while I had the TG in my Indy’s shop to get the rake kit put on and asked him to decat it…. And just found out 2 days ago it was already done.
I’m almost certain it was not tuned by the previous owner… so this winter is when I’ll get it tuned.

You will love the rake kit

I am running the 4" Bam Sticks with the 1.75" baffles, along with some TTI's.

This is the first exhaust in over 20 years that I am running with baffles. With the install of the cam it was just hitting too hard and loud for hour after hour of riding, although it did sound fantastic at an idle.

You can see the slip-ons I'm running at this LINK and the TTI's I'm running at this LINK.

Here is a video of the sound-

I had some TABS on a 2020 Heritage Softail Classic that I bought with 7000 miles on it. The previous owner had installed TABS with the Zombie baffles. Waaaaaay too loud. Had a real sharp, hard barking sound. Replaced with the Medium baffles and still sounds good without the obnoxious noise.

Thanks outerrider, that's what I was looking for.

Sound is such a tricky thing with pipes … what one person likes , another hates. I usually tell people go to the dealership and listen as they pull bikes in or out at start of day or end of day. Then you can get an idea of what different pipes sound like . As for the Tab Zombie baffles , I personally think they are a bit loud for a bike I’m going to spend a lot of time on . There are tons of videos on You tube with comparisons

Yes, and although the videos can be somewhat useful...everything sounds different in person...your first idea is the best.

Here's a video we did on the subject-

This point was re-emphasized to me a couple of weeks ago.

Jon had installed some 50 Cal's with TTI's in them, and made a short video of them (see below). They definitely sound good (to me) in the video.

BUT, when I met up with him a couple of weeks ago, in Indiana, and heard the bike in person....WOWOWOW, it sounded so much better (to me) in person than on the video.

I'm running the 4" Bams with the zombie baffles and they are loud. The jury is still out. I am running a cam. They sound good but I may buy the medium baffles later and try them.
I like the idle sound with the zombie baffles and cruising speed sound is ok. Getting into the throttle, they are loud.

Decided to put my Street Cannons from my 21 SGS on my 24 TG because I liked the sound but removed the cat while I was at it. Now it is a bit too loud. Installed 118 TTI's which took out the harshness and has the deep mellow sound.IMG_0559.jpg
