.....HI GUYS.....LOOKING TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING A PAINT FADING PROBLEM.....I HAVE THE 2010, BLACK CHERRY PAINT AND NOW I AM NOTICING THAT THE PAINT IS FADING TO A LIGHT PINKISH COLOR ON THE TOP OF MIRRORS AND THE TOP OF FENDERS....THIS STALLION DOESN'T SIT IN THE SUN, FOR I KEEP IT IN THE GARAGE....

I CALLED THOUGHBRED ABOUT IT, CAUSE I AM STILL UNDER A WARRENTY, THEY SAID THAT THEY ARE CHECKING WITH THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PAINT DEPARTMENT, BUT 3 DAYS HAS PASSED WITHOUT THE RETURN CALL...I FIGURE THAT THIS IS A PRODUCT THAT STILL REPRESENTS THE STALLION LINE....VERY NOTICABLE....AND THE PAINT IS WHAT PEOPLE TALK ABOUT ALL THE TIME....I WILL KEEP YOU GUYS IN TOUCH ON HOW THEY RESPOND TO THIS PROBLEM...
HAVE A GREAT DAY....

On my ’09 Orange, I have about a 3” size batch on back below the mesh area that looks faded/chalky. Anxious to hear what Thoroughbred tells you.

Sounds like cheap paint. I paint with tractor paint, plain enamel with hardener, it will last 7 - 8 years, with clear coat on it, 10 - 15 years.

As a previous Top 10 National Dealer for Motor Trike/Stallion, I've been to their facility many dozens of times over the years and I can testify that they use anything but CHEAP PAINT, I owned a custom paint shop in a past life and I know what paints they use and the quality of their facility. Paint hundreds if not thousands of fiberglass bodies like they have and you WILL have an occasional reaction due to one of many factors. I've seen it happen to the best painters.

I'm a bit perplexed when I see a person who makes a habit of flaming various manufacturers about their manufacturing, products or procedures when he really has no first hand knowledge of them. Chill out on the flaming or your posts like this will disappear.

Thanks.
I dont enjoy fussing at anyone here and I have no problem at all with anyone addressing real issues. We've all seen the manufacturers gladly step up to help our members resolve them, some publicly but most behind the scenes right here via PM or phone. Your own situation is a good example...you know what I'm talking about as I helped move the process along.

All the major trike manufacturers are present here every day I know because I communicate with an owner or manager almost daily. For that I am thankful and want us all to respect and appreciate their willingness to help our members. Most of them avoid internet forums like the plague because they get revenge-flamed with no recourse. We don't roll like that here on TrikeTalk.com and because we don't its a win-win for everyone.

hello Zook & Marge.....was my thread out of line?....i am interested about the paint on the older models....I have been in touch with TBMS, and playing phone tag right now with Richard....but we will connect sooner or later...lol
not wanting to cause no fuss....

Not out of line ODDOMAN. TBMS/ MotorTrike has always turned out fantastic paint work and I've never seen a single paint issue come up with them on this board until now. The only problem I had was with the "cheap paint" comment which I know for a fact isn't true so I addressed that comment with the poster. Back in the boom days of '06, '07, I ordered as many as 25 complete turn key trikes at a time from them and never had a single come back on factory paint to this day. Given the thousands of trikes and kits they've put out over the years, Im sure there are occasional issues that could be due to one of many factors, but on the whole, paint has pretty much been a non-issue.

Hi Zook,
I purchased your exhaust system and my brother and I had 2008 stallions. The paint work on mine had two bigg runs and numerous small pits which the company agreed to fix thru the stallion shop in Vegas. My brothers trike had many small blemishes. Unfotunately,I had to have mine repainted twice. My brother being younger and less wise than his brother chose to live with the paint job, lower stress. The reason I posted is because your report was somewhat inaccurate and your bellicose response was unnecessary. Hopefully you keep your weapons unloaded.
Sincerely,
Vernon L. Herrick JR

I'm speaking from my own experiences...so no it is not inaccurate. If I had dealt with paint problems I would have said so, Vern.

:Whack:well I just got an answer to my problem of fading paint on my 2010 Stallion.....the higher ups with in Thoroughbred-Motorsports decided to shoot me down on this issue.....Not trying to start a wave big enough to rock a boat....but to inform some of you that may have an interest in this matter...
I paid 33,000 cash for this ride 25 months ago...and I don't want to ride in something that is turning "pink", even though pink is in this month of October...lol
i wrote the big wigs out there today....hoping that they may change their minds....but I won't hold my breath....i have been the voice for Thoroughbred in Sc, because of the car shows that I have placed my trike along with the other classic cars that i posess....this is dissapointing....
