The best I've gotten is 36 MPG, but I have a lead foot! We got our Stallion in January, 2008 and have over 4400 miles on it! What mpg are you getting? We are in Central Florida........where are you??????

18 city 24 highway with no air cruise control and i am not happy after being told 35 to 45 arizona my vette gets better mpg

fuel mileage

After two rides, I got 30.04 on 126 miles ride. After breaking in I hope to get high 30s. Mikey, I'm over in the Sarasota area.

The gas gauge allows for a small reserve amount if I remember correctly.
Everyone’s gas mileage has me wanting not to disconnect my battery for the computer to reset my settings. The worse I have gotten is one tank32 the usually 35-36 the best has been 50

the best is 32MPG but I hope it will do better, I only have little over 500 miles in the 4 days I have had it.
mine went to reserve at 150 miles, I got gas at 165 miles and could only put in 6.5 gallons

Looks like low 30's at best, so far. Was expecting and hoping for more MPG.
Only had it 3 weeks & 1900 miles. Will check it out on a 1700 mile RT ride to Ne next week. Am delivering a MC camping trailer that I sold.

Typical Tell you 40's . my wife's car Acura TL gets low 30's . I would expect you should get mid to high 30's at least. True the farther you push the pedal down makes the gas really go. My trike is the same 38 to 40MPG at under 45 MPH and low 30's if I hot rod it. Just talked to a guy that triked a HD Low rider. Claims he dropped from 42 MPG as a 2 wheeler to low 30's as a trike.

We have never gotten more than 35 mpg in the 10k miles. Mostly we get around 33. MJ does not push it very hard either. Doesn't seem to matter long or short trips. Ted

I feel somewhat better, I guess! Most report (above) better mileage with Stallions than I am getting with a GL1800/Roadsmith trike. Mine is delivering about 27 mpg no matter how I drive/ride it. I haven't tried 45 mph though. <g>

My previous K1200LT/Hannigan delivered from 34 to 49 mpg and the Grinnall Scorpion 111 was about the same overall.

I only have approx 1,000 miles logged but so far my mileage has been between 28-33 MPG. My last tankful was my best at 33 MPG and I kept the speed at or below 55 MPH the whole time. I'd hate to have to drive any slower to get better mileage. You'd never get anywhere.

Another issue I've noticed on my 2 last tankfuls is the gauge is very inaccurate. By that I mean the gauge is all the way down to E but the most I could get into the tank was 6.9 gallons (and that's with fuel right up into the neck of the filler hole). The low fuel light was on in both cases and I was afraid to drive much farther, afraid that I'd run out of gas. If the tank hold 9.5 gallons, that's 2.5 gallons of fuel that is useless unless one wants to take the chance of running dry and getting stranded on the side of the road.

That is the built in reserve allowance. I hadn't looked in the manual in awhile but I think thats were I had read that refrence becaused it had cincerned me also.

I did let it get down to les then a gallon left in the tank ONCE. after filling it short drive the engine light came back on.

After removing and putting the gas cap off and on the light went out about 45 miles latter. This ocurance was in the manual as well.

I was at thoroughbred motorsports in Troup, Tx last monday
one of the things I ask about was the gas tank, it holds 9.5 gal
it goes into reserve when 3 gal is left or 6.5 gal has been used
so if you are getting about 30 miles per gal you still have about 90 miles to empty
if you fill up when the reserve light comes on you will only put in 6.5 gal and be full.

Thanks to both Silverdevil and BenO for your info. I was aware of what the manual says about the reserve allowance but didn't think it would be 1/3 of the tanks volume, which is basically what Silverdevil is saying that TMS told him. At least now we know "the rest of the story".

I just finished a 2700 mile trip. I now have 6100 miles on the stallion. I got 35 mpg on the highway, this was doing mostly 75 mph with the cruise control on.

I found out that if you have about 1 1/2 gallons left in the tank and make a hard left turn or a long sweeping left curve at 70 mph that the gas will move to the right and the fuel pump will lose pressure and the engine will quit. It happened twice, once during a left U-turn and once in a long sweeping left hand curve. There is apparently no baffles in the tank.

Rumor mill has it that TMS is now putting an eleven gallon tank in the stallion, this has not been confirmed.

Talking with MT at Americade they still hold true to 45 Highway and 32 city. I said to the rep. is that at 35 MPH with a 120lb driver ? She said EPA figures. I said we are getting only 30's according to the people on TT message board. She shrugged her shoulders. Wow every year the price jumps $3,000 showing them now in the $32,000+ range. I only saw one Registered Stallion at Americade out of 35,000+ motorcycles. ??????

John,

Not trying to be smart or rude I have a question and a couple of comments.

Question: Did you count and see all 35,000 motorcycles so that you can accuretly say that there was only 1 registered Stallion?

Comment: The Stallion was intruduced March of '06 which was a prototype. The MSRP was $29,995 plus tax, title & freight. There has been just 1 increase in price from the factory the middle of 2008. The MSRP was then set at $32,995.00 plus tax, title and freight.

As with all vehicles a EPA rating is a estimate. There are alot of variables to effect the gas mileage, such as passengers, cargo, road conditions, enviroment, quality of gasoline, driving habits, speeds and I am sure there are more. My last personal vehicle was a Chevy Impala SS. It was rated at 29 mpg highway and I rarely got better than 23 which if I calculate it correctly that is 28% less than the EPA highway mileage. EPA on the Stallion is 45 highway and Scooter who just went on a trip said he got 35 mpg, again if my calculation is correct that is 23%. My next thought is I have been riding GL1500 Goldwing trikes since 1998 and never have I gotten better than 35 mpg. The Stallion has more wind resistance as it is wider, it is heavier, it has more rubber on the ground, A/C and it has nearly twice the horsepower so I would think that even though the 35 is not 45 all things considering this is pretty good mileage. Not to mention this is a toy for most people. The sales rep in Americade can only give information on the overall trike. They can not quote mileage from individuals as there are to many varibles.

Just remember the Stallion has only been in production a year and a half so your not going to see them as often as other bikes that have been out for years. Also this unit is not for everyone. It was not built to replace the trike conversion but was built to be a factory built trike allowing people to have a alternative to a motorcycle modification or just ride something they like and or something different.

Bottom line if you like it buy it what ever bike/trike it is. If you buy enjoy it while you can as we never know when we will no longer be able to do so.:Flag:

Scooter, I experienced the engine shut off yesterday too. Low fuel, about 1/4 tank on guage and a quick hard left turn. Engine restarted as I finished the turn. Not a good experience.

I am totally happy with 35 mpg. I found that at about 250 miles I was more than ready to take a but break. The furthest I went on a tank of gas was 300miles and I used 8.5 gallons of gas and about 2.5 lbs of backside.

On my 35 mpg trip I was riding solo, with a bag on the back seat, no trailer, using cruise control most of the time, assorted gasoline brands, most with 10% ethanol.

The one thing I really miss is stretching my legs out on highway pegs, but after a couple of days I got used to it.

Guys my wife gets about the same 35 MPG also. My HD trike only gets 36 to 38, but I have adapted an 08 6 gallon tank to my 07. We ride alot together so not a problem because I have to fuel at 170 to 180 miles or she will be taking me to the gas station for a can. I do not take a chance. Remember you do not have a reserve on a fuel injected machine. So give your self a break and refuel at around 250. By then it's time for a short break anyway. Ted

Hear hear!! I've got a perfectly glorious GL1800 doorstop in my garage, because I can no longer ride it due to handicap. So, I'm here learning about the Stallion. I just wanted to put an exclamation on Russel's point - if you enjoy it, do it while you can! You never know when you won't be able to.

HELLO,
I've just applied Rhino to the edges of the cockpit to protect from errant feet.Looks good.Recommend light coat and extend the Rhino up to where the 180 curve by brake returns to hood release and then you can use the flat area to extend your legs. Also you can have the rhino painted to match body color. I chose black because of the black cherry paint and red brick seat covers from B&G CYCLE UPHOLSTRY(BGSEATCOVERS.COM) which makes for a nice color contrast.B&G were apleasure to deal with and shipped promptly, everthing fit and they didn't overcharge for shipping which many vendors do.

We just got back home from a 2200+ mile trip to New Mexico. We were towing our bunkhouse trailer and only got 28 to 33 MPG for the trip. Really like our Stallion, rides & handles good. Only thing that need some attention is the exhaust system.

The exhaust is to loud at crusing speed. I'm going to a muffler shop in the morning and have a glass pac installed in place of the rear converter and muffler. Hoping this will change the exhaust noise level.
