Somebody ought to tell our teenagers this:

A little self-righteous don’t you think?

You’ve paraphrased my reflection nicely, Bubba. Those poking fun at other folks better have thick skin themselves, don’t ya think?

(There’s another generational joke about kids-these-days needing safe spaces- but it’s a bit too early to read the room’s appetite for self deprecating humor; maybe I will trot it out for the later part of my set)

It struck me as hell-a funny that a culture originating with bikers sporting tattoos and piercings is populated now, in part, by an aging cohort imitating MC style while simultaneously mocking those young folks. If that ain’t worthy of ribbing, I don’t know what is!

What comes around gos around......The generation before mine didn't like the way we dressed 'our hair cuts and our music........So they drafted most of us...And those are the people that created the new generation..:xzqxz:...

Tattoos have been around for years. Our Military came back from the wars with Tats, That also is when they got deeply involved with buying Harley's

Moving on in history the Tats stayed and became even more popular with the public

All of my family including my children have Tattoos and some kind of piercing be it ears or like my daughter had a belly button piercing, I in fact took her on her 16th birthday ( she is a Valentines day ) birthday girl for a Tattoo she picked out, it was a bonding day for us;)

This new generation IMO has taken the tats and piercings too far JMO

IE neck, face and hands tattoos and facial piercings

I don’t see a clear generational line so much as the wheel of culture turning, with the typical adoption across the age spectrum. By my reckoning, body modification peeked back in the first decade of the 2000s, with an uptick in sub-dermal object insertion, scarification, and stretching of skin to accept larger piercings.

You can tell them till you're blue in the face, but they will only listen as much as we did at their age. If Ida listened to the advice given me, I'd be worth a whole lot more than I am, but I wouldn't change a thing even if I could.

I still think tats are a fad. And as with most every other fad, they eventually die out. Never have cared for tats on women, but that's the woman's choice. Altho tats seem to be everywhere now, there once was a time when very few got them. Time will tell where they go from here.

In 1969 ,I went to the famous Woodstock music festival...............I had very long hair down past my shoulders and now I'm 99% bald..........WOW! have times changed :devilish:

None of my business what adults do to themselves. The teenagers I hire to work on my hilltop fire support base don't need an old guy telling them how to live. Their goofy parents do that- plenty which is why they hang out with me. But if they ask I'll simply tell them: "everything you put in your body when your in your teens and twenty's will come back to haunt you in your 50's and 60's. " That goes double for the shots the Army gives you.

I laugh when I see older folks criticizing today's youth. I used to coach youth hockey. Once you spend time with younger folks, you'll begin to understand that they're just doing their thing in their time. They could care less about your generation. They'll stop listening when you talk about "Back when I was your age..."

The same people crying about kids hair styles and body paint should remember that 50 yrs ago they were the ones getting static in school for long hair and short skirts. Man, how soon we forget.

Since this thread was started under "General..." and since the forum's definition of this sub-forum is "off topic", then I assume many discussions brought up here don't have a lot to do with Trikes.

With that word salad being said, the days of having a discussion about political views are long gone in this country. Both sides have gone too far in both directions. When I was a young man, I could kid around with a friend or cousin about his/her political affiliation, and it was no big deal. No one would take it personal, and no one would actually get mad at each other.

As evidenced by a couple of the previous posts here, it is obvious that folks on here would get mad very easily when an opposite political view is expressed. Therefore, TrikeTalk should probably not allow anything political on any of the subforums.
