:gah: Well it's been a month since ordering my new trike kit. Last I new it was somewhere in Chicago (LOST). I am hoping to hear something soon on whether it's been found or a new one is on it's way. Even though the weather is not cooperating here in Michigan yet, I sure would like to have it ready for when it does break. So to all my Trike friends, say a little prayer for me would ya?:Trike1:

You got it. & hope your lost kit is found. Who is the carrier a local trucking company of a major one?
Good luck!

Regards,

Rosy

That would also drive me crazy! If it does show up, make sure you go over it with a fine tooth comb not knowing what additional moving and/or banging it may have gone through. :gah:

Fingers crossed for ya and let us know how it all turns out. :cxtv:

I've got to ask... Any idea who was used to ship your kit? I've dealt with the shipping industry for several years, and any reputable shipper has a VERY precise method of tracking to prevent this sort of "issue". If it were me, I think I'd dig a bit deeper to find out "the rest of the story". I'm afraid that doesn't quite "add up", something simply isn't right with this.

Agreed and excellent advice. I'm a 35 year veteran of the trucking industry, and can tell you that if your shipment has been "lost" for a month, there should have been some sort of claims process begun to mitigate the loss.
I think your first call ought to be to your seller. They ought to know where the shipment is, or at least provide a phone number and PRO number for the carrier. PM me and I can answer questions to help guide you.

If you ordered the kit a month ago thats one thing. If it shipped a month ago and has gotten lost, thats entirely another. Its pretty normal to take at least a month to have your kit produced by any of the top factories, especially this time of year. Are you sure it has shipped? Was it shipping straight to you or to a dealer then to you? Give Heidi a call at Roadsmith at (800) 331-0705 and she can tell you were your kit is.

If there is a problem you need further help with, ask for one of the owners Doug Lindholm or Jim McGurran or dealer services manager Kirk Rush.

The whole Roadsmith crew are great folks to deal with and support their customers 100%.

I just spent a lot of time with these guys at Daytona and they are good people.

I'll agree with Zook on this one 100%. The "big boys" in the trike world are all very good at what they do, and they all have a turn around time for kits ordered/produced. This may simply be a mis-communication or mis-understanding.

Best way to get a resolution with your worries is to go straight to "the horses mouth".

I hope you insured your kit and if so have you filed a claim on it. When I ordered my last 2 trike kits from Mystery I went by there shop 3 days later and picked everything up but the tires. Had to wait 3 more days on them but it was no biggy. 3 months is totally unacceptablle and I would be calling the insurance company ASAP,,,Hope you get it all worked out and in the wind soon.

Great advise ,,but their should have been a scheduled delivery time. Again great advise,do this and you should resolve all worries.

Agree w/Bazooka. Met the big guys at Daytona Bike Week where I had my RS conversion, they seem like good folks who will help you whatever your problem.

Thanks for all the advice and concern. The dealer that is handling my conversion said that they are working with Roadsmith to track the shipment and find out why the carriers trailer is setting somewhere in the Chicago area. I'll let you know what I find out on Monday.:Trike1:

Hello Bommer. Sorry to hear about the issues with your kit. We will be happy to look into the details of where it is and what has transpired since it left the factory. We would like to talk to you to get some more information. Would you please call Kirk Rush at 800-331-0705 as soon as you can? Thanks!

I just talked to Kirk Rush at Roadsmith about this and you wont have to wait until Monday to find out. ThumbUp

edit: OOPS, didnt see that last post...Kirk beat me to the punch!

Good for Kirk. This should not be a problem and RS should have been on it from day one. A RS kit is huge, how can it possibly get lost? Maybe RS should take a look at their logistics, and their QC. I have to get my aux fuel tank replaced because of a drip, drip, drip, leak problem. I know it's difficult to control outsourcing, but these problems inconvenience the customer. After forking out $14/15K for a conversion, inconvenience is the last thing a customer wants to deal with. My problem is back and forth to Daytona, almost 200 miles, and the hangout day for the fix. I selected RS because I thought it was the best conversion. Motor Trike is a scant 12 miles from me. Hope I did the right thing. Only time will tell, not real happy right now, but they are doing the best they can, so I give them credit.

(1) I would wonder when RS received the order vis a vis when the dealer reports that the order was placed?
(2) I would like to know when the order was shipped, via which carrier, and the tracking number. Most carriers can provide status of shipments on a day to day basis.

Is there more to this story? Hope it is reconciled to your satisfaction soon.

My experience with the company while I owned a RS was fantastic. Contact them and they will do all they can to assist you.

This little story is not related to the missing trike kit, just to show that bigger items than a crated trike kit can be "lost".
If an item is even just a couple days late, get on top of it right away to find out where it is.
The story:A friend visiting here in St.Louis, from England, bought an GoldWing 1800 to ship back to England.Had it crated here in St.Louis by a trucking company and hauled to Florida to be delivered to a company there which was to put the Wing on a ship bound for England.

After 2 months of waiting,my friend contacted me and asked could I help find his Wing. From England, companies here would not respond to his e-mails or phone calls.Had him fax me paperwork.Trucking company here says they delivered Wing to warehouse in Florida.Warehouse in Florida says they didn't receive it.Finally had to contact a GWRRA member in the town in Florida (faxed him Paperwork). He went there and talked an employee into looking for the crated GoldWing which was found still in the back of warehouse.Somebody didn't sign off at the warehouse that the crate had been received. My friend received his GoldWing on the next in bound ship.Total time involved, just over 3 months.

Not to be critical of your statement BB, but having been a Roadsmith dealer for several years now and knowing how this company handles their business, I will 100% guarantee you that Roadsmith hasn't lost this shipment. It sounds like this is the first they have heard about this and if there was any delay in it arriving at the destination, the selling dealer should have contacted them immediately. Within minutes Roadsmith would contact their shipper and know exactly where the shipment was unless the truck driver wigged out and disappeared...possible but not at all likely.

In my experience they have excellent quality control, but nothing man made comes out perfect every time. I know its aggravating, but I'm sure they will take care of your gas tank issue. Truthfully, I've had almost zero issues with Roadsmith QC and have seen them cover items that were far, FAR out of warranty (I might get spanked for telling that).
