Roadsmith gl 1800 mpg avg

Out here is west Texas I've never gotten the gas mileage some seem to get in other parts of the country. Must be the roads.... :pepper::pepper: I usually get in the 28 to 30 mpg range which is just fine with me. I like good gas mileage as well as the next guy but sometimes it just don't matter... :xszpv: :xszpv:

two up riding the Arkansas twisties I average around 35. Highway pulling a trailer and loaded below 3,000 rpm I'll average around 32. Above 3,0000 I'll average around 30.

08/Roadsmith Getting 39/40 mpg now, but that is on a fresh tune up.

Holy Smokes, wish I could get even close to your mpg on my Road Smith. Maybe in the high country I might get 42/43, Florida flat lands, 34/35 and that's not aggressive driving.

Just back from a 5103 mile trip riding two up pulling trailer. Start to finish average was right at 31.5 and that includes the whole trip. Saw a coupe 22 mpg fill ups in Texas cruising in the 85 mph range.

Wow! Did you guys do any tuning on your trikes?
Best I get on my 2012 Roadsmith is 29 to 30 highway (avg 75 mph) and 32 or so on local road trips.

How in the heck is Lucky getting 39/40 mpg? You sure your calculations are accurate? That's a crazy big number for any trike.

He's Lucky.

Just got a 2009 that only had 4,200 miles on it. Now has 6,200 and gas mileage has run 32 to 34. I shift gears between 3 & 4 thousand RPM; however speed limit around the area is only 55 so not much higher speed running.

mileage

Just finished a 3200 mile trip averaged 28 to 30 pulling a camper it didn't seem that good at the time but I guess that is the best I can get from it

I don't have any idea how many MPG I get. And honestly I really don't care. I stop every 100 miles or so and buy gas a drink and take a ....... So I have never watched gas mileage on anything I have ever driven. If you have to worry about gas mileage you might be better riding a bicycle.
P.S. I have the aux tank on my RS and use it all the time. I still stop for a break every 100 miles or so because I ain't 16 anymore.

Agree, not sure how some riders can get these high mpg's.
I like to watch my mpg's, could be an indication of a problem if it suddenly drops. As I read some mpg posts, the CSC seems to get the best mileage of a a gallon fuel.

I don't worry about my mog but I do check it at times. With 2 tanks I get plenty of stops with breaks.
I check it at times to see which local stations fuel mpg with.
I get 30 local and 33/34 on the road. I never check it when I don't fill up on that day. Waist of time.

Well--my CSC seems to be averaging in the low 30s' so far--and it seems to be pretty sensitive to speed. These guys claiming 35+ must be cruising at about 45-50 mph. My first 2,000 miles have been a fair mix of speeds and I'm pretty sure I'm under 30 mpg at 70 mph 2 up.

My CSC averages around 35 MPG and has for almost 95,000 miles.
When I run above 3000 RPM, it may drop to 33.
Several times I have gotten almost 40 MPG running the 85 octane in the mountains out West.
When I can, I use CRUISE.
I am usually at the speed limit plus 5.

I'll make an effort to do an official odometer/gallons-to-fill check--I have not done one yet. My on-the-fly calcs might be overly pessimistic due to the way the gauge works with the aux. fuel tank.

I wouldn't think there would be a big difference between any of the conversions models with regard to mileage. When I had my 2004 with a 2011 CSC Cobra XL kit I got 35-38. Now with my 2012 with a new Hannigan kit on it I get 35-38. I'm pleased with that. Guess it I ran it 85 MPH, ( and you don't want to do that in Ohio many places) it would go way down but even on the interstate I never get in a big hurry when I'm on the Trike.

During our trip to Colorado (less than 400 miles on the trike) I did on average 35 mpg. While in Colorado, it was getting in the upper 30's and low 40's mpg, but around the flat lands of southeast Texas, it's doing good to do 32 mpg. I was also pulling a trailer and riding two up in the mountains........

Stop and go mpg check is worthless. you know taking several days to need fuel.
I check mine on trips mostly. I know I can do 300 miles with both tanks. That is all I need to know.

It is all in the wrist and left foot.
3,000 RPM or less
65 MPH. Or less
shift at 3,000 to 3.500
use reg gas not premium.
35 MPG average.
I can get 40 if I ride with my Harley buddies
they tool back roads 40 MPH. I think some of it is due to the un burned fuel my bike sucks in and re burns, when I follow to close

I can usually count on 32-34 on the highway unless I'm pulling a trailer and we're riding two up. If that's the case, I'm only concerned that I can make it from fill up to fill up. I do miss those days of 40+ with only two wheels.

Happy with my mileage

I just found this site. My 2014 kit on a 2012 GW gets about 31 average. When we stay on the highway and run about 2800rpm at 67mph we get 32. At 70mph we get about 31. I've done as well as 35 but running about 60 with no wife on the back.
