Just an FYI folks. We're considering a 2005 RoadSmith GoldWing. Brand new trike installation! 42,000 miles on the clock with a decent amount of options. We'll see.

Fingers crossed.... Waiting with bated breath.... Watching for pictures.... :D

Rich,
Pull the trigger. I read your other thread. I hate the heat, needed a trike like a hole in the head, and waited for years to finally buy a bike that I could safely ride.
Some day was always just over the horizon. 20 years in the Navy, 6 years caring for an ill parent, always something else to buy instead...well if I do nothing more that polish it during hot weather that alone will put a grin on my face.

Life is short and tomorrow is promised to no one. Buy it, ride it, admire it...get your grin back, and ride safe!

Denise,

I'm beginning to share your outlook and really can't dispute anything you've said! What's even more surprising is that my wife is also viewing this trike as a positive move, although we weren't going to do anything until I retire next year. It just so happens that this particular trike has just about everything we want and it's the perfect color as well. I think the mileage is a little high (low 40,000) but others tell me that's really nothing for a 2005 GL1800 and, the price is right. I told the dealer that I'd be in touch with him no later than mid week. We'll more than likely make a decision tomorrow or by Monday evening the latest and I'll call the dealer on Tuesday. (Right now we're leaning towards buying her) If the trike is still there, it was meant to be. :)

Friend of mine hung on to the purse strings and bought his trike finally. He enjoyed It for 3 years.

Rich, I bought my first trike five years ago as I was just starting treatment for cancer that I had been given a 9% chance of surviving. Now 5 years later and cancer free and loving the trike (bought a newer one last year). I bought it because I knew how much my wife loved the two wheeler but couldn't ride without me. She rode the trike to Houston when I was down there taking treatments and now that she is retired she gets to ride more than I do. Best thing I ever did. Life is too short, enjoy while you can.

ThumbUp

There is not more to add to this excellent post!

Two years ago after a quadruple bypass I rode my 2-wheel Wing to the Blue ridge. While changing into rain gear, the bike fell over on me, trapping me with one knee on the ground and the bike resting on the other knee. I no longer had the strength to lift it upright and had to wait in the rain for someone to notice my plight. A man and his wife pushed the bike upright and freed me. That is the precise moment I decided to make it a TRIKE!

Best thing I ever did. Just got back from a 2 week ride through 13 western states, totalling 5,299 miles - 378 miles average per day - in total comfort! I did get caught in a mini tornado near the Badlands in SD that tried to kill me - and had I been on a two-wheeler probably would have. But the only damage was it sucked my hearing aids right out of a flap-buttoned pocket while it tried to rip my head off.

Needless to say, my Roadsmith-GL1800 is one fantastic machine!

Our decision to trike occurred last year on the way home from WingDing. I-75 was closed and they routed ALL 4 lanes onto a tiny, narrow two lane through the mountains-a semi rig dropped a wheel into the ditch and we spent 1 1/2 hours moving ten miles! Road was high crowned so using the sidestand was NOT an option-no place to pull over, no way to turn around!!!My left leg was at a wierd angle trying to hold the bike, my right would only barely touch. Left leg was literally "trembling" before we got through that mess. At THAT moment I decided a trike was the answer. Converted to a Roadsmith a couple months and 3k miles ago...Could NOT be more pleased! Go for it!!!!!

Go for it and never look back! You'll love the Trike and you'll love Roadsmith.
I hope your next post is telling us that you got it and showing off some pictures!!!!

We have had our Roadsmith about 5 months now and absolutely love it. Rides smooth at all speeds. Feel much safer and is really nice having 3 wheels at stop signs and lights. Don't have to worry about where you are putting your foot down. Would never go back to two wheels. Just finished a 3000 mile trip to South Dakota and back with no problems at all. Hope you get it, because you WILL enjoy it.

You will love it! Got my 2004 triked at theTrike Shop, White Bear Lake, MN the first week in June. 3000 mi later it is great. A big plus is the people at Road Smith are great to work with. I have been a little bit of a challenge for them but they have come through with flying colors. Great Kit and Great company it just don't get better then that. Good Luck, have a Safe ride, relax and enjoy life. JerryD

Thanks Jerry.

If you've read my other post titled "I've got a secret", you'll see that I did buy the trike and I'm picking her up this coming Friday. The garage is all ready for her arrival, lol. :10:

Truly inspirational posts here. I'm really stoked about my plans for a RoadSmith.
My recent two weeks in TN riding two up really opened my eyes. $16K conversion slows me down, but can't put a price on enjoyment.
