Does anyone have any recommendation or experience with a handlebar camera mount for a 35MM digital camera to shoot through the windshield on a road trip?

Go to You Tube and search screwballsteve. Wife and I have GoPro 1080p digital movie and still cameras mounted on our handle bars. We use RAM camera mounts and shoot around the windshield. Most of what I do is stills, you are only good for about 45 minutes in batteries. I've modified the case on mine and added a power cord, now I can record about 2 hours on a 32 gig card.
