Riding Vacation is over

We had a wonderful week riding in the Smoky Mountains. Put on just over 1200 miles. Beautiful place to ride - and roads can be so much fun!

One day, we rode to (and through) the Dragon and got our patches at Deal's Gap, along with the obligatory picture in front of the sign. Once we had completed that, we got on the Moonshiner 28 and rode to Walhalla, SC. While the Dragon was on my bucket list it will not necessarily go on the list of "I gotta do that again" things. However, the Moonshiner is on the "Do this again" list. Got some pics where the trike is between the rocks and the water coming off the waterfall. Some very technical areas on the Moonshiner that rival the Dragon, but also some great sweepers in awesome scenery. We are hoping to make the trip up to Pigeon Forge (where we stayed in a cabin in the woods) again in October, and maybe see some of the leaves changing.

Sadly, we are both back to work today. Looking on the bright side, we are working so we can afford to go back!

Hope y'all had as as good a week as we did.

Glad U R home safely and enjoyed urself. We hope to make it up that way one day and even over to Huntsville. We used to live in Florence Al. and would ride over to Huntsville all the time. Maybe we can bring the RV up that way one day.

Thanks for the trip report.

Glad Ya'll had fun and made it Home safely. Yep, The Dragon is "OK", but a lota' roads up there I like a lot more....Your "mentioned 28" is one of my picks over it also......goin' up next week in fact....we average about 20+ trips a year up into the Smokies Area....Post up when You start to go up again in case it fits Our schedule....might get to ride with You sometime......:wtg:

Since You're this close (only about 50 miles south of us), we need to ride local sometime also....we rode with Members of TRIKE TALK last Saturday...Great Time....!!!!!

Great report, hitime! Isn't that area fantastic for riding? Love it!

I was in the smokeys last week as well. I also rode approx. 1200 miles. We rode down to Helen Ga. and spent Monday night then rode across the Cherohala Skyway , around 360 and the foothills pkwy. back to Pigeon forge. We spent the rest of the week riding the mountains and little river road, etc. Had a great time. We plan to go back the last of Sept. for a few more days.

We go there at least twice a year, love it...one day would like to buy a cabin somewhere in the area and retire there....Smokey's, North GA, NC...somewhere...
we're headed to N GA, Blue Ridge, for a few days in October...son and his wife coming in from Kansas...good time for sure..

We are in the process of buying a cabin now. Not going to move there just yet - we still have a few years until we can both retire. But this one should be a good rental property - already has a proven history of renting well. Hopefully it will give us a little more income to put toward gas money for riding the trike!
