looks like Champion,,Is it etched on the plate where the handle is mounted the maker?

What do you mean by Hard to engage? Is the clutch adjusted properly that could cause a hard to engage reverse too.

I have the Mototrike reverse in my Tri.. And thats not it... Maybe yours is a Champion?

engaging

when bought bike they said did not work. I PLAYED AROUND WITH IT AND got it engaged. seems like I have to push down and pull lever back. maybe I am not doing it correctly?
I'll look to see if can find any markings.

Apples to Oranges here, With my Motortrike reverse i push down and forward to engage reverse.
The lever is spring loaded and needs only about 1/2 inch of travel to engage into a notch...
If its off just a hair it won't go into reverse...
Another thing.. If in reverse and you should hit first will the engine immediately shut down, If not your missing the safety wiring harness...

Thanks

Thank you so much for the great info. And speedy reply. I knew I could count on the forum for help. Have a great day, and ride safe.ThumbUp

I have an 05 with the same installation. Bitch to put into gear. Most of the time, I push with my feet, rather than look like an idiot trying to push a little lever into engage the gear. I also have a problem trying to find neutral, and somehow wonder if they are related.

Good luck.

. Same here. Hard neutral/reverse. May look for a champion dealer and ask.

Apples to Orange's, Again.... Just wondering with my Motortrike reverse i turn the ignition on put the trike in neutral/clutch in .Put the lever in reverse .. Then start the engine ease off the clutch and feed gas...Goes in every time
Maybe that will work with your champion..?

I was just reading the instructions on the champion, And for the life of me, I can't understand why they don't have a lock out so you can't put it in forward while in reverse... Doing so will /might damage the gears...Or at the least grind the gears and jam the transmission:gah:

Hard to get into reverse

Tried engage in neutral and going to first then engage. No diff. Just real hard to Push down, then goes ok.
Bought a reverse on e-bay cheaper than the Champion price Was hard to push in and then began to bind If you have the same problem will not like the solution Took off the exhause and then the outer transmission housing Then I took off the reverse gear housing Each side has a plate held by three small screws One plate stuck out too far and I ground down Had to retime the transmission but adjusting the number of spacers behind the lock nuts on both transmission shafts Do not take my word until some how make sure this is your problem It was with mine Good luck

Our trike has a Champion reverse and if the engine is running, pulling in the clutch and engaging reverse results in grinding gears every time. I think I'm going to try your way, next time.
