Removing the parking brake.

I think your dealer is blowing smoke -- never herd that you need a parking brake for a trike in NY -- ( factory or kit trike )

Dealer's don't want you to take it off because if you trade they have to put it back on. Should have seen the look on the Dealer's face when we traded my wife's 2010 FLHXXX for her 2012 Triglide. I handed him a box, he said what's that? I said, it's the parking brake assy. I took it off because she didn't use it and thought it was ugly. Soon as we got home, I took the one off her 2012. HD could have engineered a much better system. IMO

Is there some benefit from removing the parking brake? I understand that you may not use it but in all seriousness is there a benefit? I have a 2012 that I just bought and have not had any issues with the parking brake making any noises or getting in the way.

My wife didn't have an issue with it except she said it was ugly. Said it looked like a umbrella. She wanted it off!

I took mine off today. I called the State police to see if it was leagal to run without it and they didn't know so they suggested calling a dealer because they would be more up on the the law. According to Niehause Cycles in Litchfield, Illinois They are not required on trike kits made in the states. Lehman is required to have them since they are from Canada. But you can take them off after you recieve the trike. Sounds crazy, I know, but this is what I was told. And they deal in Lehman, Cal. Sidecar and a couple of other manufacturers of kits that I can't recall. I never used mine anyway so I took it off.
