Reasonable temp numbers

Ok thought i would share and see if these heat numbers sound reasonable. Last week riding in 85 degree weather. I checked my rear head temp and it was 361 degrees. Yep i was riding in stop and go traffic and a bit of hwy running at 75 MPH. My CSC trike conversions has most of the motor covered and not a lot of air to the motor.

Ok gotta cure this problem so ordered the Ultracool oil cooler and the Love jugs mighty mights. Got them installed fri.. and the weather and temps were 88 degrees sat. A few more degrees warmer and about same humidity. than my last ride.. Took a ride on the same route and with a bit more traffic stopping. Stopped at same place to check head temps again and the rear head was showing 231 degrees.

WOW is this really so. I do have a very expensive heat Gun and no that it is correct. From all my research i was told that this combination would lower these heat numbers like what i have now. Ok guess i am ranting how good these combinations do and do these numbers now sound true to all you that have opinions. Thanks for any thoughts in advance. Booggerbe (Ron)

Ooo and anyone no of a head temp gauge that is good to use. Was looking at the marlins head/oil temp gauge but can't figure out how to use the head temp sensor because i have the reccesed head bolts. Ok forum again thanks for looking.

I have the marlin temp gauge. Head temp has adaptor to put on head bolt, then sensor goes in that. Only problem I have is the spade connector from vibration gets warn and makes a bad terminal. Should be a bolt stud. Other than that the oil temp works fine. 86 the air temp gauge as replacement. Easy install, just think it out.

This is the problem with having temperature gauges. We worry more about what they say than about enjoying the ride. Part of your oil's job is cooling the engine, that's why it's hot. Ride and enjoy. Unless you're sitting and idling for a long time, don't worry.

PC , I can ride and enjoy and at the same time watch my gauges. Unlike a lot of riders most dont care what there motors are doing untill they start shelling out the money for repairs or a melted down motor. I for one do care about what my motor is doing and always try to prevent any problems for hand. I was asking if anyone in this forum had any input on these temp . Not just a gauge. If you have any input on these temps then say so or dont just concentrate on a gauge question . Thanks again for any input from the members here. Booggerbe (Ron)

Ron Go to DK Products web page (sponsor here) He has a extensive post on this subject that goes along with his research on Love Jugs. I think that info is right up what you are interested in.

My years of experience with engines (since early 60's) has shown that oil has gotten so good I have yet to see an engine fail due to an oil failure. Anybody else seen one?
