My wife's Road King conversion has a rattle that sounds like it is coming from the right brake drum and when I step on the rear brake it stops. I have taken it apart and there is nothing loose nor does anything look wrong with it. I tried adjusting it but it did not help. The brake pedal it not loose either. Any ideas ???
Do you have a parking brake? Might be something there making noise. If there is something loose in the brake drum you better take it apart before it destroys something, or you loose the brakes on one side.

any chance the problem is on the other side and you just hear it on the right?

I have had it apart on both sides it all looks good. I have been all over it top and bottom and can't find it.

Thanks a lot,
SR

Check the rear muffler rubber holding the muffler up where the two bolts are.

+1 The rubber isolator may have moved enough the muffler tab is against the tab mount on the frame. The older isolators are short and can move out of position. Harley came out with a longer rubber isolator for the muffler mounts in 2009 that eliminates the problem

Thanks Guy's . That's one of the first things I checked as that has happened to me before.
I am going out this morning and see what I might find I will keep you posted.
