What rain gear do you all use and why? Aside from keeping rain off. I was perfectly happy with mine until a bike change and suddenly the right leg melted. So which rain gear does it all if you would?
Looks like there are several models that are supposed to be motorcycle rain gear. All of them work or just certain ones? Do you remember which you got?
If you're near, or visit, a coast, go find a fisherman's supply house and get a yellow rainsuit. Epoxy a thin oblong piece of leather inside the right leg to protect against the pipes, and get two velcro straps to cinch down the ends of the pants. Done.
I got a brand new HD rain jacket here @ a local aftermarket shop for $26.00, it has a hood and velcro pockets, Pretty good deal IMO http://www.2ndridearound.com/
If you come to Jax here is their link, nice folks running the shop
Tried Frogg Toggs but they didn't work for me. I also tried a couple other brands and types but seams leaked after a while of standing or riding in the rain. We did buy my wife some Frogg Toggs a while back as she is more into fashion, color coordinating than I am! Laugh if you will but the only rain gear that I've found to keep me dry is made of vinyl. Now not the cheapies but a good quality set. Cheapies will work fine but the vinyl is thinner and the welded seams seem to be a weak point. The disadvantage of this type they can get hot. Not too bad as long as you are moving but at an event when the rain quits and the sun comes out they have to come off!
I have a pair of heavy vinyl rain gear that I have had since the 70's when I was working around hatcheries and they are still waterproof. The straps on the bottoms (bib style) are broken but the gear itself is still good.
I carry rain boots I bought at Cycle Gear. Less expensive than Harley's. Frogg Toggs rain jacket and rain pants. One of our local indy shops will sell the pants separately which is good. Walmart has them as do a number of the big box sporting goods stores. I refuse to spend what the moco wants for a rain suit.
