What kind of rain gear do you have and why ?

I am interested in getting some new rear gear. I want it to be comfortable and breathable. Does anyone have any that they are very happy with.

I have "normal" two piece motorcycle rain gear. Each piece rolls up into its own pouch. Used to think it was fine until I started wearing an Aerostitch jacket and pants. I have the Darien Light. I wear it rain or shine.
On a recent six day trip touring Colorado it rained some every day. Some days it poured. The other guys were taking rain gear on and off. Soon as it stopped raining everyone wanted to rip theirs off because it doesn't breath so well.
I was perfectly comfortable whether it was wet, dry, warm or cold.
The stuff's pricey but you'll buy it once and have it forever.

We use Frog Toggs. It's breathable, light weight, folds up into a small package, inexpensive, and it works. Some say it won't last but the suits we have are about 10 years old and are just fine. I do like the suits in bright or light colors though, they are much more visible in wet cloudy weather.

Cheap Frogg Toggs bought at Wal Mart. Why because they were cheap and it doesn't rain much here in the West except for this year.

For more than twenty years, Cathy and I bought the cheapest rainsuits we could find. We figured that if they blew out, they would be cheap to replace. About 5 years ago, we decided to ante-up for good suits. We ended up with Harley raingear, and the difference between them and the cheap gear is amazing. The better suits fit better, they breathe, and have some useful features the others suits did not have. It's good, quality material, and I doubt it will wear out as the no-name suits did.

We bought our Frogg Toggs at one of the last Honda Homecomings.
Decide to buy new ones this year and bought some at Wing Ding in Madison, Wi.
What a improvement over our old ones.
Check into them.

Frogg toggs for me also. I've used several over the years and like the frogg toggs best.

I bought a set of Nelson Riggs rain gear off of flea-bay, I think I only paid about thirty five or forty dollars for the two piece suit and so far has worked really well and fits great it has elastic gathers to keep it from ballooning up with the wind and is vented.

First Gear pants and Gebring heated jacket. Why?? To ride in the rain and stay dry of course!

Tour master . I don't like looking like the Michelin tire guy or Pillsbury dough boy. I can walk around in it. I keep it in the bike. They serve two problems for rain and for cold.

I've been using the Nelson Riggs 2 piece gear for about 3 years and am very happy with it. The top has Velcro flaps over the zipper and a Velcro neck strap that really keeps the rain from running down your neck.

The pants have zippers at the bottom so I can put them on over my riding boots, then zip them for rain protection.

I live in Florida and have ridden for hours in truly torrential downpours, trying to get home. When I got home on one trip, I took off the rain suit in the garage and my clothes were completely dry.

I have taken long trips where rain was forecast along the way and wore the rain suit for the whole trip. It only gets uncomfortable when the temp is 90 or more (but then, only a jacket with coolant will help at those temps.)

I know that this thread died 6 years ago.At the time I posted that I used cheap Frogg Toggs from Walmart. Well a couple of years ago that changed when my dealer in Salt Lake a bunch of riding gear on sale. There was a full two piece suit of Spyder rain gear for 50% off and in my size too. I couldn't pass it up. I doesn't rain much here so I didn't get a chance to use it, they just stayed in my bag. This spring befor the lockdown The group I ride with, Temple Riders, did their annual trip to San Diego and I went along. We had a great time in spite of rain being forecast every day. Mostly it didn't, but on our way back it rained all that day from San Diego to Parker Az. And not just rained but a frog strangler. That rain suit from 2 years ago had a work out and it did work. I never got wet under suit. My boots are not waterproof or even water resistant so my feet got damp but thanks to the excellent protection from the Spyder they didn't get too wet. My Sena got wet enough to short out, but I was fine. So that's what I wear and the why was because it was on sale but now is because it works.

Hey Paul, nice to hear about the Spyder rain protection on the feet, on my GW I just poured the water out of my boot. Since I have not had the RT out in the rain yet, do not know it works in the torso area, not expecting any miracles, after all, it is a motorcycle of sorts.

I have a HD rain suit, mine is light gray with lots of hi vis orange, reflective stripes and graphics.

I carried rain gear in my bikes for 25 plus years , But i was always too stubborn to pull over and put it on, So i got wet and then i figured why bother to put dry gear on over wet clothes...AKA; Closing the barn door........So i would Keep on riding because you can't get any wetter than wet right?......And also It can't rain forever so eventually you'll air dry...:laugh:..

I once read most rain related motorcycle accidents are from motorcyclist pulling to the side of the road to put their rain gear on. Car drivers don't see them in the deluge and run into them.:Shrug:

We picked up two sets from Leather Up on sale really nice Black and reflective Yellow. we keep them in the trunk in vac. bags saving space.
