I regularly read most of the posts on this board, and look through the ones about bike mods to see if there is something I'd like to tackle on my trike.
A lot of these are about changing out the exhaust systems, removing the Cat, EFI tuning, cam upgrades, oil coolers, engine fans, air cleaner upgrades, lift kits, etc., etc. Half the time I don't have a clue what the poster is referring to, so I have to start Googling the terms in the post.
Why all the abbreviations and no explanations? The few times I have asked for some insight, I get flamed for being dumb or for stirring up trouble. TOI isn't a private club, as far as I know. Why the blatant discrimination against trikers who aren't familiar with your preferred brand?
I've been riding some kind of bike or trike for 56 years now. Started with Lambretta, Vespa and Coleman scooters. Went to Suzuki, Honda, Triumph, Moto Guzzi, BMW, Harley Davidson, Yamaha and Kawasaki. Why so may brands? Upgrades, good deals, mechanical problems not worth fixing, curiosity, greed, lust, need for speed, more power, you name it.
I changed out the exhaust on only one bike, and the shocks on another. Every other mod was just farkles and comfort features like seats and windshields.
I guess I have trouble understanding the new breed of dragsters, power tuners, and master motorcycle mechanics who seem to dominate this board. The old timers are mostly couch potatoes who love to ride their trikes on weekends or take the wife (girlfriend) to lunch with the guys and gals.
Rant over. :GL1800:
