Good evening ladies and gentlemen.I have a 2016 103 twin cam Freewheeler with 85,000 kms.on it.I have been changing motor oil on it myself, for the five years that i,ve owned it.It would always hold the right amount of oil (3.8 litres)but the last two oil changes,it will only take 2.5 litres and there is only 2.5 litres that draines out of it.I run the back tires on two by fours to make sure drain hole is pointing downward, let it run for awhile to let oil warm up abit.I have read that the one litre of oil that is short, might still be in the engine and that purging the system might flush the oil out that is left with a normal change.Does anybody know of video on how to purge a 103 twin cam or know of something else causing the low oil problem? The dipstick is showing full and it runs fine, just has the normal Harley noises. Thanks

What does your primary level look like? Last time I purged was in my drinking days. For 50 years I never purged the oil from any of my HD motors. Same goes for all my autos/ pickups/ semi trucks or heavy equipment. With the world turning to shit I'd find more important things to worry about.

Thanks for your reply, primary oil is fine, changed it not too long ago and there is the right amount in it.Just trying to figure out why it won"t take the right amount of engine oil.

Excellent question here: (i'll be read'n with open eyes) I ride a 2010 1800 Goldwing, and I'm an oil and filter changeOHLIC... The good book instructs us to change oil & filter every 8,000 miles....{I know that I will never go 8,000 miles before change'n} I usually replace that O&F every 2,000 miles.... and always at the end of the season before putting her up for the longgggg winter hibernation period... (looks like next week she'll be up on jacks for the season)

I would need to move!!!

There are several different ways to get a Complete oil change. It adds some extra steps to the process, but you will get ALL the old oil out.

The one that I have used a few times is the Scavenger Kit at this LINK.
