I am trying to pick colors for pinstriping on our trike. I can't even get 2 white socks that match so I am soliciting your help. Our trike is a 2006 GL1800 and the paint color is Topeka Gold. What color scheme would you pick for pinstripes and how many colors would you use?

I am not into murals. I want to do fine line striping that will really pop and add some sparkle to the trike. You can view trike at my profile. Thanks for your input.

Had a look at your trike, my preference would be black (goes with upholstery) but I also like red pin-stripes on gold... looks great
By the way, I can't seem to match my socks either, but I can lay pinstripes :D A few of my mates have taken advantage of my (usually) minimal approach...
I think with striping, less is better than more in most cases.

Joel-
Ive seen many pinstripe color combinations on gold bikes & trikes. Id get some custom hand striping done by one of the better artists at a spring rally near you. A good artist can lay some test colors on for you to look at before you decide on a permanent color combo.

Ditto what Zook said . Pin stripers know the business. RED or Burgundy looks good on gold , RED wide stripe on top. White thin under looks nice too. I have see med green and it look quite nice . Depends on how orange the gold is or how yellow it is.

Pin striping can be a very personal thing for some people, so, I wouldn't even try to suggest colors for you. Like Bazooka suggested, have the artist lay out some colors & pick what looks good to YOU. It's YOUR trike. In the end, you gotta make the choice. I know I was on pins & needles when I ordered the "crimson" seat for my Red/black Ultra. There are a bunch of different shades of "crimson" & I'm "color weak" -- I can see RED & GREEN, but the pastels all run together. For example, I got a nice "brown" T shirt at Sturgis last Summer. When I got home 'Pest said "I thought you didn't like green!" when she saw it. If you're like me & don't see all colors quite as they are, you might have your wife/girl friend (may they never meet!) pick out the colors 'cuz I've discovered it's best to keep "her" happy. If you look at my trike, you'll see I used gold as the border between the red & black & I THINK it looks good -- 'Pest likes it, so I'm happy. Actualy, the gold is a white pearl so it changes with different angles. At certain angles, it almost disappears.

Thank you for your input Puff, Bazooka, John and Nauga Mok!

The trike has been striped. I had 4 different color schemes and the fellow who did the job put all of them on the fender for me to see. What was my last choice, became my first choice of colors after seeing them on the trike. I went with brown fine lines with a burgundy red infill and a splash of black to set it all off. Watching him work was worth the price of admission!

It is to be sunny today so I hope to get some pictures taken and get them posted.:)

That pinstriping color is perfect with your gold trike, wingking! Great choice :)

WingKing51, That pin striping is terrific!! Just takes your trike into another realm doesn't it! The colors were made for each other. I love the placement and style used also. Ride Proud!!:yes:
