Bradenton, FL.
With all the knowledge on this site I have to ask. Is there any differences between a 2015 or a 2016 Tri Glide. I have been looking at both as it is time for me to give up 2 wheels , I have rode both years and can ride them no problem, I would just the hear the differences as there are many for sale in both years. Thanks Doc

From what I've read and been told, there's no difference between the 2015 and 2016 models other than colors. As for availability, it really depends on where you live. Out west, here, there are almost no "leftovers" from year to year at the dealerships I've been to. There's also very few used ones for sale out here and if there are, the prices seem to be higher than other areas of the country. Seems there's a lot more availability in the south and southeast from what I've seen.

Used TGs

There is a 2014 and a 2015 on the website for Treasure Coast H-D in Stuart FL and one 2015 on the website for Space Coast H-D in Palm Bay FL. No prices listed - "Call for Quote".

Get out your H.O.G. Touring Handbook, decide how far you are willing to travel to get your TG, then start picking out the dealerships and checking their websites or calling them. You'll eventually find something that peaks your interest!

Quite a few in TX. But watch out for the "salvage title" rebuilts.

Happy Hunting! And welcome to TT!

OP, when I got bought my 16 a year ago, I was told the only difference between the 15 and the 16 was a slimmer (doesn't stick out as far) primary cover. Supposed to make the bike a little narrower for riders to get their feet on the ground. IMO, not an issue on a trike.
And yes, different color choices.

Narrow primary = different clutch. We now have the one that came on the '15 Limited low, hence the slender primary and derby cover.

Thanks

I have found a few in my area Bradenton FL. New leftovers and also very low mile used ones under $30,000 for the used ones, I have not priced to leftovers or the 17s. I have be putting off giving up 2 wheels and by doing so have gave up a lot of riding time. Thanks for all the reply's I will be pulling the trigger soon. Doc

Now is the time

With the buzz about the new Motors now is the time to make the move. We love ours I had not ridden in forty years I had no transition to go through just had to learn how. Trikes are a great fun and comfortable for us. Ride safely Fred

OK Update, Test rode the 2017 TG and then a 2016 TG both brand new , First the 2017 had a whole lot of power over the 16 wife and I noticed no heat on the 17 but did on the 16, Clutch release was way out on the 17 vs the 16, We could not feel any difference in the ride or handling between the two years, Both were loud in engine noise . The 16 had a loud lifter until warmed up. Dealer giving $3000 off the 16 MSRP. Iam still on the fence as to 3 wheels but if I want to keep riding I may have to pull the trigger. Thanks For the help. Doc

don't waite to long

If that is all he is giving off a 16 may I suggest contacting Space Coast HD across the state in Palm Bay. They were doing better then that way before the 17's rolled in. Call Tony the sales manager tell him Ted from Key Largo referred you. You will be glad you did.

Buy the '16 .................

I would go with the '16. The engine is well proven. A few gentle tweaks and you will have a strong runner. The M8 is having teething issues based on several threads here and on several other H-D specific boards.

+1

+1 on Space Coast. Best deals in FL!

I'm not a Harley rider so I can't answer your question. I can just say WELCOME to the form and enjoy the ride. Larry

The prices some have quoted does that include .
Transportation and set up fees...?..I ask because some dealers don't charge that... And if they do charge' That adds up to about a thousand dollars...

I have been busy looking on the net and at local dealers will be making my mind up hopefully soon, I have been busy riding 2 wheels and really hard for me to give them up. Thanks Doc

I have been busy test riding the Tri Glide have over 12 hours on the 2017, I still have a problem wanting to give up my 2 wheels. I am in a bad place as my 2 wheels are coming to an end for me. I can ride the trike fine but its not even close to the same as 2 wheels. Thanks for all the help Doc

The Twin Cam in the 16 has more track record than the 17 M8 engine. Right now there are more aftermarket parts for it. However, there is less heat on the 17 and more power. It's quieter in the engine and the exhaust seems to be a bit louder than the 16's. I had a perfectly excellent 14 that I had just the way I wanted it. One ride on the 17 and I knew I wanted it. I have had a few problems with mine but they are past me now. I'm getting about 6 mpg better with the 17 and the wife doesn't complain about the heat.

Bottom line, it's your money and your trike. Weigh the pros and cons of each. The discount on the 16 will make the purchase a bit easier but you will have "last years model" . The 17 is in its first production year. If that bothers you, the 16 may be the better bike and cheaper too.

Good luck with your decision

Steve

TT website has been 'down' for me, since late last week, until today. Maybe it's my tablet....hmm. But I digress.
Many years ago, a younger co worker was pouring over new car sales literature for a Mustang. When I inquired what she was looking at, she explained and said "hey, you're older, what do you think I should do about buying one?" I told her I had 2 questions. Do you want it? She said absolutely. Can you afford it? She said yes. I said then go buy it. She was surprised by my response, saying that she sees me as 'very conservative'. I told her life goes by too fast. Now, 'yes I can afford it' means different things to different people, but it all falls back on the person making the purchase.
Just my opinion.

So true.

We have a 2017 Tri Glide now we traded our 2015 for it. Yes not much of a track record yet on the new M8 engine.(HD does claims many hours of testing on it ??) With that said the M8 is quieter, smoother has more torque and power hands down. It's way cooler running and the drive train has been greatly improved. (These two things are a nice improvement). It's the best shifting and smoothest drive train Harley I have had in all my years of riding them. The gear ratio are spot on for a trike. Also I believe the M8 will have a ton of accessories and options soon. The M8 engine design is a leap forward. Yes there may be a few issues but no more and hopefully way less than the twin cam had at it's birth following the evo.

Also the front forks are greatly improved on the 2017 model trikes.

I think you will be happy and will enjoy no matter wich way you go 2016 or 2017.

Bill G

You know Mike there have been a few issues but way more positive ones than negative on the M8. I have seen a much bigger percentage of positive. Seriously not to offend you here or start anything but you and a few others have been beating this subject pretty hard on a few of the forums, not sure why nor do I really care.Things can get way way over blown on forums, just saying.

None of us know how many real issues there have been percentage wise compared to no issues. I do remember all the threads day in and day out when the twin cam came out on the forums.

Oh how history repeats itself.

Ride Safe,

Bill G

And the same issue will occur when the next new engine comes out.

Your 100% right Mike. I think you may have missed a few of the points I was trying to politely make. I also bet there will be a few guys like yourself to help keep it all moveing along.

Bill, without question, I've probably been a bit harsh in some of my posts and should have toned it down a bit. . I've had the opportunity to test ride both a '17 trike and a Limited Low. Thankfully, it was not the new two tone blue. My '16 tri-glide would have been toast. It would have cost me only $500 out of pocket to make the trade. Dealer even offered to switch my add ons to the new ride that were compatible, n/c. I realize that there will be a certain percentage of issues. As you pointed out rightly, a much smaller number compared to those not having issues. Odds are that based on what does or does not change in the '18 MY, I will trade up. If we have a mild, dry winter in my part of TX, I will have close to 50k on the '16.

Have a safe and blessed holiday season, Mike

Thank You Mike, I really respect your honesty and clear clarification here.

Thank you and have a great and safe blessed holiday season as well.

M8 plug change

Service mgr at my local dealer took a lot of weight off my mind today. With the plugs being iridium, the odds of the original owner ever needing to change them will be nada. Said they are expecting to see anywhere between 75 to 80k miles on them before having to r & r them. :D Based on this, instead of trading when the ashtray is full, I will trade just before the plugs need changing. :clapping: Only 9 more months to the '18 MY dealer show.

I guess I am ready to pull the trigger on a Tri Glide dam near lost the limited in the parking lot, bad balance with the wife on. I like the 17 but the price on the 16 is an eye opener. Like the 17 much better. Thanks for the help Doc
