New to me Trike, thoroughly confused now. To TC or not?

So I just bought a 019 Triglide, and the older gentleman I bought it from said that he always drove with the Traction Control on. He stated he would hit the switch and the light came on in the dash therefore it was on. That's what he claimed for about 75k miles on this Trike.
Well according to the owners manual it states when the light is on the Traction Control is off! (Seems ass backwards to me) So I have to assume the books correct, so apparently he's been riding all this time with it off!
You might ask what difference it makes? Well I'm a new trike rider and concerned about cornering to fast and raising a rear tire and dumping it! He stated to me that he rides pretty aggressively and have only lifted the tire once. I figure if he's ridden for 150k total on Trikes with no mishaps, he must know what he's doing, (but apparently didn't read this part of the manual)!
I thought I would try and duplicate how he road, so I should ride with the TC off correct? You experienced riders out there how do you guys ride? On or Off? Sorry for the post, I hope you guys understand why I'm asking. Thank you

I ride aggressively. The Traction Control automatically turns on when you start the trike. I always ridden with the Traction Control on. No lights on dash.

TC cuts the power down, so the drive wheels does not spin when they lose traction. It does not give you anymore traction going down the road. If need be, TC will applied brakes to the spinning wheel so the opposite wheel will try to turn.
