New Guy on the block

Just heard the Great South HD in Newnan Georgia has a black one on the floor (just south of Atlanta) and Reggie Pink HD White Plains NY also has a black one on the floor. Both are ready to rock and roll.

Grab your wallet and put a few rubberbands around it. That way you can feel it moving before they take the whole thang....

Let me know if you buy it.. I'll meet you there and ride with you out of there.

Reksul

I talked to Pat right before lunch ( nice guy ) and told him what you said. He knew exactly where that came from. Sounded a little sheepish talking about it. Hope he don't throw any rocks your way next time he sees you.

He said the black one ( actually all of them ) that he has coming has the electric reverse and alarm system in it. The alarm I want but I was planning on putting a Champion type reverse in mine. He said he would see if he could catch it in time to delete it. He also told me that if I preordered one that he could get me one for MSRP and with the alarm system, dealer prep, shipping, ect. it would be $31273.00. That would cover all charges except tax and title. It will take a little while to get it that way but I can save some $$$$.
He also said if we flew in to Atlanta he would pick us up and take us to the shop. Can't ask for any better than that.

I think it would be a nice ride back home. Kind of like a mini vacation. Thanks for all of your help and if and when this thing plays out I will let you know so we can meet and ride out together.

I know that's right!!!

That's what's great about this forum. A bunch of good, friendly and knowledgeable people helping each other out. Just don't get any better than that!!! Hopefully I will be back in the wind soon. :D :D :D I will post pictures of it when we get it and of the ride home. Only 883 miles, I think I can handle that.;)

Thanks for everyones input and help.

If you have never ridden a trike before. May I suggest you go to the section of this sight that deals with New riders and read the posts. Make sure u practice before taking it on the road. Don't say " I have been riding bikes all my life I know what to do," because you will be surprised and we don't want another person on the injured list.

I appreciate the concern. I've only been on one trike and it was an old sevi-car. Been a long time ago. I've ridden a bunch of miles in my years but i know it is a different ball game with the trike. I think with caution, paying close attention, practice and some reading up on it shouldn't be that difficult. I'll have one on the back that knows the turtle slap routine. We are not gonna be in a big hurry to get back, kinda set back and enjoy the ride and do a little sightseeing along the way.

Or I could buy one local and pay a little more, miss meeting some good folks, not ride so far and miss out on our mini vacation.

HMMMMMM Nahhhh :D :D

UPDATE: Just got a call from Pat @ Killer Creek HD and He told me it would be June if I ordered one and that if I was planning on putting in the Champion reverse that would void my warranty with HD. He also said that black, no reverse, and alarm system was 31,584 not 31,273 as previously stated. One of us misunderstood the other. So if I go with the electric reverse it would be 32,779 plus tax title and license. Still not a bad deal being the best price around here was 32,500 (before anything) no reverse, alarm, shipping, prep, ect. before tax title and license.

Man all of this is giving me a headache.

He still has the black one coming w/electric reverse and alarm. Can anyone give me any info on the reverse?

Thanks
RRM

Pat is a good guy but he still has a leach. Matt (sales manager) is his immediate boss and Ed is the GM. All will shoot you straight.

Strange he gave you a price then called and adjusted it but... I can see this happening if he said something without checking the books with Matt.

With that being said.. I will have to agree with John about reading the material. Enough said. If you buy here I will take you through some safe areas to ride while heading you in the right direction. That way you can get a feel for her. If you bring wifey to ride back with you have them install the passenger hand rails. Trust me, she will feel much better with them on. Mine complained until I installed a set now she loves to ride the trike.

Part II next post

Part II

UB knows what he is saying. Have heard the same same. Personally I have the Champions but I rarely use reverse. I thought I would use it more but the Champions can be a real pain to get into gear without using tricks so I am mindful where I park. If I need to back into the Hawg Pen (bike garage) I simple pull in the clutch and tip-toe it in. They are easy to move.

If you can get a deal, get the deal. The resale will be solid with all OEM parts and your warranty won't go poof. Wait two years then if you feel you want a better reverse or a real reverse gear you can change.

Rambling over. :D:D

Atlanta road scout standing by ...

I'll get ya headed home. May even take you as far as Alabama and one of our other members may take over. Ya think?

RRM I opinion, find the best deal with the security system if that's what you want. Don't worry about reverse. My 07 HD Road Glide trike is very easy to push backwords if I mess up on my parking plan, which doesn't happen often. My daughter and wife both have reverse on their trikes. You need it on my wifes Stallion, but my daughters Goldwing is also easy to push. So don't worry about reverse for now is my suggestion. Like UB and Reksul are saying you can put it in later if you find you really need it. Ted

RRM...my two cents worth is to add the reverse you want later, if you want it. I am only 5' tall and about 105 pounds. I have no reverse at all as yet, but I push my trike very easily as long as I pay attention to parking where I don't have to push it uphill!!!

Around here the first Tri-Glides are coming out with the security system and reverse. I would go with it and if anything happens with the reverse your warranty should cover it. Then in a couple of years if you still feel you need a reverse, install the champion kit.

I have had reverse on mine for 6 years now and used it maybe 10 times . (sometimes to show off ) I have gotten very clever at parking. When the trailer is on the REV is useless.

FYI

Just for grins :D :D :D today we went over to HD dealer in the Woodlands. Looked at an '03 with a DFT on it. Really was a nice trike. Very similar to the Tri Glide the way it was setup. Lots of extras, 30k miles, they are asking 22500. She sat on it to kinda get the feel of it. I told her to set in the drivers seat but she wouldn't. Said she had no desire to drive just wants to ride, OK.

While we were there got them to run a quote on black, with reverse and security system. Out the door 39190.72.

Georgia's on my MIND!!!!

Oh, I wish I was in the land of cotton,
Old times there are not forgotten,
Look away, look away, look away Dixie Land.

In Dixie Land, where I was born in,
early on one frosty mornin',
Look away, look away, look away Dixie Land.

I wish I was in Dixie, Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand
to live and die in Dixie.
Away, away, away down south in Dixie.
Away, away, away down south in Dixie

hehehe

DFT is not cheap ( GOOD ) but not cheap. Y there are so few us out there. The IRS is worth it. If not mistaken I was told last year the kit was about $13,000

Read it and weep:( :( :( :( :(but that was at one of the highest Dealers in the Houston area, HD of the Woodlands. I talked to Mancuso's last week before I found out the info from Reksul on Killer Creek in Ga. Wild Bill from Mancuso's quoted me one @ 2500 over MSRP said that's as low as he could go and I've bought from them before.

The '03 with the DFT kit that we looked at today had all the bells and whistles and more. Really nice trike, I would consider buying it if I could get out the door for say no more than 20k. Then I could put on my Champion reverse and not have to worry about any issues on that. Also could be ridin quicker, won't have to sell the house and live under a bridge, eat Ramin for the next 40 years, hock my kids, ect ect ect.

It has crossed my mind a time or two today. What to do???? What to do????
Or I guess I could just stick with the old rat rods and such.

RRM, Make them an offer. You may even be able to negotiate the Champion Reverse install in the deal. Here in Florida a lot of HD dealers do the reverse kit installs. The DFT kit is around $13k not including extras. They do LED lights, trailer hitch and there were a couple of other things that were extra. So if you can get them down close to the $20k figure or maybe throw in the reverse install. You would be in the right ball park. Make sure they let you test drive it first. The DFT IRS is top drawer. I was looking at one but could not afford it. Ted

My DFT is for sale at Wiebs Harley DAvidson in Princeton Illinios. I just traded it in on a Triglide. They are asking 20k for it. It has the champion reverse on it. And all of the other bells and whistles.
