New Experience

Found a delightful new experience with my new(to me) Tri Glide.

Let me start with a short story from 5 years ago. My wife of 35 years came out to the driveway while I was getting my first motorcycle ready for a ride. She sat on the back seat, in the driveway, with the engine off, for about 15 sec, and got off saying "OK, that's enough" and never got on it again.

Cut to Friday. I have bought the TG, and gotten it home from Georgia. We have some errands to run, and I say,"How about using the Trike?" She looks skeptical, but says OK.

I get out a spare helmet, jacket, gloves, and we go for a ride and finish the things we have to do. She says "This is fun, do we have to go right home?" Of course, we do not, so we spend another 1/2 hour or so just wandering around. Next day, more errands, and she says "Can we use the Trike?" Again, "Of course we can Honey." So I take the time to install the headsets the previous owner provided, and figure out how the intercom works so we can talk.

About 2 hrs of errands and wandering, plus a stop for lunch at a restaraunt we had been thinking about trying, and she is wondering if she is interested in getting her own MC license and a trike of her own!

For now, she is happy on the back, but what a GREAT experience, to have her riding with me!:D

GREAT STORY!!!! Man, you are sooooooo lucky. I remember the days when my wife could still ride with me. It's been six or seven years now since she was able to go on the trike. I miss that!!

Cherish the experience!!!

Trikes are clearly a great option for a husband & wife team. My wife would never want to get on my two wheeler when we had it and I myself was very leery of having her ride with me due to my hip acting up every so often which could compromise my handling of the bike or even holding it up at a stop. Now with the trike, not only do I feel more confident but my better half is always looking forward to a ride. ThumbUp

Love it! Very cool story Tanker...this is another good one for the new Articles section. Lots of great stories get kinda buried in the forum posts and are missed, but will be seen by many more there. Can we publish it there when its up and ready?

Well one more along the same line: Wife rode behind me for many, many years and enjoyed it - as we aged, she said to me 'when I hit 50 I want to take the class and rode my own' - well she did and turned around and bought a new Sportster. Progress onward a couple of years and I trade in my '02 Electra Glidpeppere on a 2010 H.D. trike - I bring it home and Wife says ' let me try it ',
end up selling the Sport and buying another trike. Now she has 14 thou. on
it and loves it/rides far more often and we BOTH feel more comfortable/safer !

Prior to the rally at Maggie Valley last year I asked my wife to be if she would go to the event with me. Of course she said she would, and then I said we would be traveling on the trike. She had never been on a motorcycle before in her entire life. We took the trip on the trike and with visiting reletives around the country, it turned into a 2600 mile round trip. After that she wants to go on the trike all of the time. I created a monster! pepper
We love traveling on the trike. :Excited:

My wife had a M/C license from years ago, but in later years, rarely used it. Instead, she rode with me on my (then 2 wheel) Wing. About 5 years ago, a friend was selling his '87 Trike in order to "upgrade" to a newer model. She decided to "check it out" and soon bought it. Recently, my 2 wheeler was converted to 3 and although I've been riding for over 50 years, she has many more trike miles than I do. You'll never guess where our "screen name" came from.

Tanker, enjoy your rides together as my wife and I do. I especially enjoy them more now that I triked mine and not have to struggle holding up 900 lbs. of bike at stops with my short legs. A friend of mine several years ago got his wife her own bike and eventually after several complained he had to disconnect her CB and tell her it broke.

That is so great. Just today I had a discussion with the better half about a possible trike trip this summer, but she told me to go by myself because she cannot hiway travel on the trike. So anybody that can share the love of riding with their wife by their side consider yourself lucky, I wish she could handle it better and just enjoy the ride.

Love hearing stories of how people are bonding and renewing togetherness through triking. I know our trike gives my love and me time together as we ride and go places.
Keep it up folks. Love is grand and time is precious!!

Finally stopped while riding with friends who could take a pic of us. This is in Montgomery, Texas.

Duck, If you want to show Belinda, it'll let her know how much we are enjoying the TG.

I love the fact that you guys enjoy having your wives ride with you. I am very much looking forward to my hubby & I getting a trike this year. We are looking forward to many happy years of riding together.
