Ok, I'm wondering if anybody has their home owners, auto insurance and motorcycle insurance through the same company and what company is that. Looks like I'm buying a house and need homeowners insurance, have the auto and the trike through nationwide insurance, have been with this company since I was 16 and it was Aid insurance at the time and has changed names many times and now Nationwide. Had my agent shoot me a price for homeowners insurance since I have the auto and trike with them, boy was it high, bad thing it only covered around $12,500 for the 24 x 28 garage and 10 x 10 shed, had her figured a higher amount and we are looking at over $925 for homeowners insurance for the year, I pay around $700 a year for the trike and around $1,000 for my 2005 truck with full coverage, got to say these are in the high mode. I'm supposed to get a discount for all 3 but I'm not seeing it and really didn't see it with the auto and trike either.

So if anyone has a insurance company that is good and have all 3 with them, would like to know, my insurance agent did give me quotes on another company that she carries, but still think it is to high IMHO. Never had any wrecks or speeding tickets so not sure why I'm so high on auto and the trike is another story I guess, have heard of other people that have a cheaper insurance than I do, I plan on checking other company's out but if you have one that is good and not expensive that you have to take a loan out for it LOL

I switched to Geico a few years ago...... Full coverage on all...House, Two cars' Umbrella policy two bikes and Saved thousands over Allstate which i had since 1963......Your savings' may vary ..:Shrug:

Nationwide was on my side

I have had Nationwide house and car insurance since 1983 . It is a little higher than a few other insurance companies I checked out . I have had 3 claims with them . First one ('93) was when a tree took out my 3 car garage and my'46 Ford convertible . The same storm my house was hit by another tree . That claim cost them $30K . I had $250. deductible . The next claim was when high winds took some siding off the back of the house (2011). $2100 damage . Since then they raised the deductible to $1K for storm damage. The third one (2018) with the higher deductible took out my shed (another tree) and ripped off part of the garage roof and some wood fencing .That one cost me the $1K and Nationwide paid the other $3750.

I did switch to Progressive for my car and MC Insurgence on my 4 bikes 3 yrs ago when I retired , saved me around $950 yr. Don't know if that was a mistake yet ..You get what you pay for ..

I live in NE Ohio 3/4 mile from Lake Erie where we get brisk :))) winds off the lake ...,.

Too many variables to offer a blanket recommendation that one carrier will be cheaper than another. It is all fact specific. However I suggest you find a good independent agency who can get you quotes from several different companies. And of course you can contact captive agents like State Farm for example and see what they come up with.

The best I could find was State Farm. Even with by two totaled trikes and one totaled Limited. premiums did not go up that much - -surprisingly.

I have everything but my trike with State Farm. Their quote on the trike was twice high as I pay with American Modern and have towing coverage, a little over $400.00 a year, full coverage for my 2016

Shop around and get as many quotes as you can

IMO insurance is a huge racket

It can go from your credit score and your zip code

I have had Dairyland on my bikes and trikes for years

With all my discounts I pay 1 dollar a day for full coverage including towing

I have Markel for my Freewheeler & it's the best insurance at the lowest price I could find & every year they drop the deductible by 25%. I also have full replacement cost & they beat Progressive by $200. They just do bikes/trikes & ATV's.

I have AAA for the home & car.

Thanks for the replies so far, have got the prices from IMT which is local to me I guess, went today to a insurance place and they said they would price out West Bend and another one, should have that by tommorrow. I thought about state farm which a agent is only a mile away from me but girl friend said she had friends that had state farm and when they made a claim they dump them after that, I remember many years ago hearing about that but don't know if it was state farm or not. I know my mom had nationwide for many years and she made a claim to them and she got dumped, her age is what they told her, granted she was 79 when this happened, she went next door and got her insurance from another person but I don't know what insurance she got

All for now Trampas

P.S. I know we need insurance but it is a big rip off IMHO

I added our Harley on our home owners auto and truck policy's one agent does all for us saved over 60% from progressive motorcycle. Agreed ins. is a racket!

Pemco for homeowners($1000/yr) and 2 cars and pick-up($1600).

Geico for Trike($600) & motor home($800).

Foremost for the Slingshot($600) because there are not many companies to choose from for it.

Pemco may not be the cheapest, but my lawyer buddy says cost is only part of it, you want a company that pays well. First wife(RIP) was hit from behind 3 different times, Pemco always paid well and she got an F'd up neck and hefty settlement for the last one. Been with them for prolly 30 years.

Never a claim on the others.

When somebody says I need another toy, I tell them that we have all the toys I can afford to insure and keep tabs on...:laugh:

Insurance companies have strange ways to rate a customer. I have used Allstate for the past few years on my bikes and since buying the Freewheeler last year,they have raised my rates two times already,so as renewel time comes ,I did some shopping and found Progressive came in the lowest by $70.00 less. I sent them the money and then I get a letter from their underwriters saying the rate they gave me was a good one but not the best due to my credit rating which is 825. They said they don't rate like a lending institution and because I have two credit cards,paid off every month,and purchased/leased two cars in the past year plus a motorcycle,they couldn't give me the top discount. What a bunch of B.S. Still the rate I got was lower than before.

Racket

I was with Allstate for years; never really happy with them but it was such a pain in the rear to shop and change.....

Just a few months ago I finally got off my rear and shopped around. Found an independent insurance dealer that saved me $1400 a year. Everything is through him; house, cars, bikes, etc.

Insurance company is called Auto-Owners Insurance Co.; my cost for the 2016 trike; full coverage with $1000 deduct. is $185.23 yearly. They have a "touring bike" discount that makes a huge difference.

Now my side-by side is a whole different story; expensive to insure!

I heard the same thing about Allstate cancelling policies. I have State Farm and have had 2 totaled motorcycle accidents and about 4 or 5 auto accidents and have not been cancelled and only moderate price increases. I'm sticking with them no matter how much lower I can find - I owe it to them.

Ok, here is what I have so far:

Nationwide which where I have my truck and trike insured with and maybe the house I'm buying

Home: $936.10 with $1,000 ded

Truck, 2005" $1,020 comp $100 ded collision $250

Trike 2018 $701 comp $250 collision $250

Total::: $2657.10

West Bend:

Home: $909 $1,000 ded

Truck: $679 comp $250 collision $500

Trike: $238 comp and collision combined $500

Umbrella policy $135 for $1,000,000

Total::: $1,961

IMT::

Home::: $611 $1,000 ded

Truck::: $650 comp $100 ded collision $250

Trike::: $351 comp $250 collision $250

Total:: $1,612

Haven't did it yet but thinking on going to State Farm and see what they can do also, sure are different prices out there for sure, curious what would you go for, been with Nationwide since I was 16 but under different names then , sure not acting like I have been with them forever, I'm just a person that insures with them, guess like most insurance company's I would imagine

This is just my personal opinion, but I think its wrong financially to have full coverage insurance on a 14 year old vehicle, be it a car or truck. It's just not worth it.

I understand where you are coming from, yes it is old, but it looks like it is brand new, most people can't believe how old it is, I take care of my vehicles as most people do, my dealer has been trying to get me to trade up to a new one for many years and I say no. It is a step side/sport side which ever you want to call it and it was the last year they made them in 2005. This is my 3rd step side and will be my last, very low miles and very good gas mileage, if fits for what I use it for. And with full coverage I have I don't have to worry about a wreck and coming out of pocket expenses to fix this truck, which I hope never happens, never have had a wreck with a vehicle, motorcycle is a different story, had 2 of them.

I did that with a car one time..kept comp & collision on it past its day.

Was told later by a different insurance agent that the insurance company would have never paid anything near what it would cost to fix it because it was so depreciated due to market value age...but the original guy never told me that...just kept taking my high dollar premium for the comp & collision.

The condition it's in & how you take care of it means nothing to the insurance company. Like paws said, when its that old, in an accident, they will total it and look in a book & not give you anything much.

I understand loving an older vehicle, I have a 2004 vehicle I bought new & love it.

They do not care about our love of a vehicle & a good insurance agent would tell you that it's not cost effective.

My house, car and trike insurance went up dramatically last year. Of course, I called around to get competitive quotes, which were all even higher. The reason, my zip code.

There have been so many homes and vehicles broken into, uninsured/underinsured auto accidents, automobile thefts, etc. that I am high risk. Due to my proximity to IH35, Loop 410 and a big homless encampment in the green belt behind my subdivision I am being penalized. My subdivision can only be accessed from Loop 410, so things are pretty tame which cannot be said for the Section 8 apartments which are on the other side of the City Public Service easement, across a dry creek and one street behind my privacy fence.

I feel your pain. Also, we are all paying for the national disasters on the east coast, flooding in your state & now in the midwest. The big insurance companies will not loose money, they just raise our rates.

Many years ago, I bought a used Volvo P1800 from an individual. I drove it a couple of years, decided when my insurance renewal came up that I would only carry liability. A few months prior to renewal a van ran into me and totaled my car. I got a check for double what I paid for it so I called the insurance company. They said it was correct, the car was manufactured only from 1961 to 1973 so it had become a collectable. I had no idea because we didn't have Google back then.

I really liked that little car. I parked it on a slope, let it roll, popped the clutch and made it to work and back home while waiting for payday to buy a battery.

I have had Dairyland through HD Insurance for years, but have never had a claim. I do not patronize Anti-American Progressive. JMHO.

Rider Insurance

MDO said in a previous post "Also, we are all paying for the national disasters on the east coast, flooding in your state & now in the midwest. The big insurance companies will not loose money, they just raise our rates."

I have had Rider Insurance since 2004. Rate for my Dyna was reasonable; same for my Heritage and Road Glide Ultra. When I transitioned to the TG, the rate actually went down. One of the main reasons rates are reasonably low is that Rider ONLY insures motorcycles. No cars, trucks, motorhomes, stationary homes or other typically insureable items. ONLY motorcycles. And to further lower their risk, thus payouts, they limit the states they insure in. Rider insures only in
New Jersey, Delaware, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. They are adding other states as their research shows the risk is worth the reward.

Other than being a policyholder for the last fifteen years, I have no vested interest in Rider. Check them out: www.rider.com

That's why I went with Markel, they only do motorcycles/trikes/4-wheelers. After checking 6 companies, they gave me the best insurance at the lowest price. I'm not in a state for Rider.

HD insurance plans are now underwritten and administered by The Sentry Group, I believe.

Several years ago I have Geico. The worse insurance company out there in my book. I live in tornado Allay out west and we had a storm and had savior damage to my brand new pickup. The new next day after I submitted the claim I was called from them and told me I was a high risk and they had to cancel me.

I now have state farm and i'm very happy with them. Nobody I have called can even come close to what there prices are . I have 4 vehicle, a trike and my home with them. never have I had a problem with claims. I have been with them for several years. will stay with them until death do us part.

Great insurance rate

I'm currently with Harley Davidson insurance, so now when it's due for renewal I read from one of the Trike Talk members about " Markel insurance" so I run a quote from them and saved over $100 a year, for full coverage, Harley wanted $474 , Markel offered me the same coverage for $304, plus very nice people to talk with
