She is looking at a Nelson Rigg rain suit anyone else using these? We got caught in rain today going to the Flight 93 Memorial great trip light rain but she needs a new suit. All comments would be appreciated. Fred

Here's the problem with most cheaper rain suits. They melt. Just the slightest touch to a hot exhaust pipe or engine and they melt. Harley has some of the best I've seen but I refuse to advertise for them. So I've gone to getting whatever top I want and a very good set of bottoms. That will put you in the $150 to $200 range but I like very bright tops.

RevZilla has some very good reviews you might want to look at. The bottoms I have are very heavy but they'll never melt even if I lay the things directly on the hottest part of the exhaust. I wish I could remember the name but it's been too many years and at least 2 tops ago. Yep, I let the top touch the exhaust once. Also do searching using "heat shield" in the search phrase somewhere. That's a term the industry seems to have settled on over melt proof.

This is just one that I got doing that but I have no first hand knowledge on how good this one is. It's cheap and that always is a red flag to me. I was hoping to find the bottoms I have. I have Tourmaster top now but when I got mine bottoms they didn't offer bottoms with any kind of heat shield. Hope this helps and doesn't confuse you.

EDIT: Out of curiosity I did another search on that cheap suit. It very well may be a good suit. It's lists for $155 on this site. You might get a good rain suit by pure chance. Being on Amazon it probably won't last long or won't be in the correct size. BTW...larger is better than a perfect fit in rain gear. Generally it will be going over your normally riding gear which can change rom season to season. We ride year round so have to get rain gear that will fit over heavy and bulky winter gear. I would not be surprised to see the Amazon link to become invalid at some point.:(

Does not rain very much in this part of the world but when it does rain, it is serious. About 8 years ago I bought a suit for the Sweetie and myself that packs into itself. It is a HD set, don't think it is offered anymore, cost was 100.00. It has worked well for us, and very easy to pack in the trunk. My daughter bought an Ion, hope I got that spelled right, top and bottoms rain suit. She loves it, quick step in and pull the suspenders on the shoulders, big and baggy. The top is extra long and fits over a heavy jacket well. Bought it at the PX and the top and bottom are sold separate for 150.00 each piece.

I just bought an Olympia Horizon rain jacket and Coleman rain pants. I bought the Olympia because it had straps and velcro to keep it from ballooning out while riding and fits well around the middle. It also has a hood in the collar that will fit easily under the helmet. I got it in orange and black so I could wear it with my Harley stuff. I bought the coleman pants because they are light-weight, lined and inexpensive. What I like about them most is that they have a sealed gusset at the bottom of the legs that open wide enough to slip them on with my shoes on. I got them in black to match the jacket. I had coleman pants before and I thought they were pretty comfortable. I also got waterproof gloves and slip-over shoe covers. Got it all for about $140.

I've got a Nelson Riggs Stormrider, used it once for about 400 miles. Worked okay. That was 3 years ago, so quality may have changed. Reviews say they don't hold up very well with heavy use.

Frogg Togg rain suits are some of the best out there! They are breathable, roll up nice and easy and you can shop around and get them from $35- $75 depending on which style you buy. They also have an iron on patch available for the exhaust leg. I've been using them now for over 10 years and still using the original set. The furthest I've rode using them in one ride was Branson, Monday to Memphis, Tennessee and completely dry. Buy them at a bike shop and expect to pay over 100% of shopping around. Tomg

I was not a fan of Frogg Toggs because they melt so easy. Now that they offer that protection patch they may very well be a goo investment. I'm just not switching to find out. I got way too much invested where I am. I finally asked my wife what mine are. Motoport. If you go this direction make certain you order the heat shields. They do both legs but unfortunately that makes them not pack as small. Very bulky as a matter of fact. But they won't melt. Even on my very very hot pipes. The hot pipes are a major gripe about these bikes. The new Indians.

Well we ended up purchasing Joe Rocket rain suits a friend close home has used several brands and over the years. We looked at frog toggs almost got them. They seem to be well made not overly priced we will see. Rain gear is a unknown for us we haven't rode in the rain much yet. I want to thank all who took the time to respond to this thread, the response shows the great people that belong here again thank you. ride safe :good:Fred/Jeanne
