Need a new fender (Left-Rear) - Suggestions?

So my left-rear fender got crunched in by a friend of mine and I'm needing a new one.. H-D wants $1200 or so for the job, which (to me) is nuts..

Anyone have any suggestions on a different route? Mind you, I don't have any way to lift the trike up to do the work myself, nor really the tools to do it either. But I'm thinking it *might* be cheaper to get an unpainted pair, and take them to a shop to have them painted/installed..

Any suggestions/help would be great. Thanks!

Mixitman, I have had my left rear fender replaced twice (once my fault, second got rear-ended) I can tell you I researched all avenues with the best one being - get an OEM from Harley and bite the bullet!! You won't be sorry and it simplifies the whole problem. However, painted parts are a 4 - 6 week wait!!

Yeah this is exactly what I figured would end up being the case, but was hoping another option might be out there.. bullet, meet teeth! :AGGHH: Than's y'all!

I think ink a good Indy shop is the right move. I know for me on average they are a lot cheaper and works is just as good.

There are several on E-Bay. You would have to figure out if using a used one would be cheaper for you.

I have a Merlot and Black 2011 TG that had the right fender damaged by road debris that I couldn't avoid. I turned it into insurance and they are covering it except for the deductible. It has been about 2 months since ordering and still waiting for it. It was $1098. for the fender plus I also have the chrome trim around the fender and paint protection film being replaced as well so the total is about $1500 with labor. I explored some of the options but even my insurance adjuster said the best bet was to stay with the pre-painted HD factory fender. With your's being black it will probably be a lot cheaper to go a different route. With the Merlot and Black which was available only on the 2011 I didn't have much choice.

I would check with your insurance company and see if it can be covered by your policy.

2011 Merlot and Black TG.
