My Custom Hand Tooled Freewheeler Leather Seat (in progress)

I'm making a custom hand-tooled leather seat and pillion pad for my forthcoming Freewheeler trike. All the design work is my own and It's the first seat I've made in about ten years. I'm not a professional just want to personalise our ride.

All the tooling is now done and I will start to lace the sissybar pad together first with Kangaroo lace first before moving onto the next part of the seat. I intend to add more memory foam and raise the pillion part so my wife is more comfortable. Once laced I will stain and airbrush everything in Tan. Should look awesome! I'll add pics as progress is made.

WOW!!

It's already looking awesome! For somebody who says they aren't professional, it sure looks like professional work. Can't wait for more pics.

Thanks, No I'm not a pro but I might do some projects when I've finished my own. It's good fun!!!

I'm going to start lacing the pillion pad next as I have the pad ready at home.

I have to wait until mid July for the seat to arrive as our FW is in production, but in the meantime I'll lace the saddle and detail with a stain ready to mould to the base!!!! I'm going to beef up my wife pillion seat as she always gets a 'numb bum' so I'm going to try and give the rear part more padding and height like a King Queen style seat. Will see how it works out nearer the time. Then I'll airbrush to finish. The seat and pillion will be tan which should pop with the Velocity red.

Thanks for all the great comments.

I've almost laced the pillion pad but have run out of lace!!! So ordered a load more and having done a sample braid on the saddle.

In the meantime I'm going to start the detail staining before lacing the saddle.

I'm going to add a gel seat over some memory foam on the passenger area for my girl to keep her comfy. Hopefully that should stop the numb bum!!! I'll post some more pics once I progress.
