Had it on my 2 post lift today, did a 1500 mile inspection.
Fluid is leaking out of rear axel.
Would not think it is normal.

It is on a 2007 yamaha road star

Agreed...you might need something tightened, or a new seal. I would definatley get it to your installer, before you put many more miles on her!!!<img src="images/smilies/grin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="big grin" class="inlineimg" />

ya it might be just excess grease being spun out of an overloaded seal-clean it up and see if it happens again-this would tell you if you have to tear it apart <img src="images/smilies/AGGGH.gif" border="0" alt="" title="AGGHH" class="inlineimg" /> and put a new seal in<img src="images/smilies/AGGGH.gif" border="0" alt="" title="AGGHH" class="inlineimg" />. I did my install, and I don't ever want to dismantle mine again!!!<img src="images/smilies/grin.gif" border="0" alt="" title="big grin" class="inlineimg" />

They had an issue with the 07 pinion seals----had to have mine replaced (Champion took care of it) Be sure they put a new crush sleeve in when they do it , they overlooked it when they did mine and it had to go in again.

Just emailed champion, warrenty dept. <br />
Hope they will respond.<br />

That rear end is suppose to be a sealed unit. Has 3 years warrenty on it.

I have never seen that happen before???? How odd... Take it to a dealer and have it looked at. Those are press fit with out a seal at the axle and the housing so in order for the grease to leak out there might be a gap of some sort... when did it start leaking? was there a bump or something hit?

they did have a defective seal that champion made good

Have not hit any thing. 1500 miles total on kit. Will do some more checking tomorrow.
Did NOT get an answer on my email. The dealer i bought kit from don't do customer service. They only sell it. They will tell you quick warranty is with Champion.

Perhaps later.

Checked it, after grease was removed. It is a sealed bearing there is leaking.
It is in the center next to to support on right side. The rear axel unit is a sealed one. Not supposed to be serviced.
It would be nice to have a breakdown on it.

That excuse was dead miss.
Proberly a cheap bearing from China.

The only think that could leak is the bearing.. as stated before there are no seal used in it's assembly other than the internal ones use in the 3rd member. So your guess is probably correct.. Replace the bearing once you verify that is the source of the leak. And once again.. this is the first time I have ever seen that happen and was very surprised when I looked at your pictures :AGGHH:
