I currently have V&H slash down ovals on my 16 Tri Glide.Looking to change them out. What are you folks running for mufflers that you are really happy with.

Hi Ed, I had the HD street canons on my '15 and was very happy with the sound and performance once I put the DK thunder torque inserts in them. Right now everything is stock on my '21.

What's your reason for changing out the V&H ?

I posted this a few months ago, but since the question has been asked I will repost it here.

I have been very pleased with the sound and performance of the stock HD slipons once I fitted them with the Fullsac Performance Recore kit. I installed the Fullsac Highflow baffle kit with 2.25" baffles. (Note that I still have the stock headpipe with the cat installed.) I have a set of the Thunder Torque W258 inserts, but did not install them as it was obvious that they would not work the way I thought they would; DK Customs techs told me I would need to install the smaller W158 inserts directly in the baffles.

Before I decided whether or not to do that, I naturally took the bike for a test ride. I was pleasantly surprised with both the sound and the performance boost. I did not notice any loss of low end torque (maybe just subjective thinking) but I did notice stronger acceleration, and I really do like the sound. It will take more riding under more different conditions to fully evaluate, but at this point I must say that I am pleased with the result. If I find that I want or need to add the TTIs I can still do that without taking the mufflers back off; putting the bike back on the lift and removing the end caps will allow me to drill the baffle ends to install them.

P.S. a side bonus is that I ordered the Fullsac kit with the black tips; complements my overall de-chroming/blackout effort very nicely. This got me the looks, sound and performance I was after at a lower cost than buying new slipons.

P.P.S. One caveat if you are going to go this route; installation of the Fullsac baffles involves sliding them into the HD mufflers once the end is cut off and removed. The hanger brackets that HD welds to the outer shell have various degrees of burn-through to the inside of the shell that can cause an already tight fit to be an interference. This must be removed by filing (good luck) or grinding with a Dremel or similar to allow the baffles to be fully inserted; just an FYI. I was able to confirm this with Steve at Fullsac when I ran into it. Still, the whole conversion including removal and reinstall took about 4 hours.

I’ve got the chrome KhromeWerks 4.5 with the performer baffle. Just a little louder than stock and will work with future upgrades once warranty is up. Look good sound good especially on hard acceleration!

Even though I shared with you what I am currently running...I think the only way you can pick out an exhaust that you are sure you will be happy with is by doing it "in person".

I installed 4" Rineharts on mine. I have also run 4" Rineharts in the past on the Road King and Ultra I used to own. I really like the sound and look but both of those things are very subjective.
