Movies / TV General Discussion

Filling the void left by Fear The Walking Dead's vacation....started watching Grantchester on Sunday night. Picked up on episode 4. Have seen the first two seasons. Then, came the first of a three part mini series, Remember Me. A ghost story starring none other than Michael Palin of Monty Python fame. Sunday nights will be ok til FTWD gets back!

Spiderman Homecoming

Well we took our son and one of his buddies to see the new Spiderman flick  For those of you whom are die-hard superhero movie fans this is a must see. It ties into the last Avengers move and has some easter eggs for some of the upcoming Marvel movies. As always, Stan Lee is looking mighty good for his cameo :D

Don't forget...Shooter new season premier is tomorrow ThumbUp

Just read that Ian Anthony Dale is returning to Hawaii 50 and is being upped to a regular. So, he has not left the series, but is working hard doing Salvation in the off season.

Going to have some creative writing eliminating Kono for the show and having her husband get more air time.

It will be interesting to see what they come up with. Fans of Park will be happy to hear that she'll have an appearance in the coming-of-age comedy Public Schooled along with co star Judy Greer later this year.

So anyone else watching this new series Midnight Texas? ... Michele is a big Supernatural fan since it's premier. This reminds me of that show...great :gah: another show she'll get hooked on. Where does one find the time to watch so much t.v.

Watch only evening tv.

Not finding anything worth watching right now - all re-runs.

Don't have all the fancy movie, HBO, etc products.

Thank goodness for the "Pickers" and HGTV - had missed a lot of episodes that are now re-runs.

AND....thank goodness for TrikeTalk !!!!

We've been watching Shooter on Tuesdays, but Ryan Phillippe has broken his leg and the season of 10 episodes has been cut to eight and no one knows if there will be a third season!

Thanks for bringing up Midnight Texas. Supernatural stuff is some of her favorites. Mondays has been Preacher (bizarre as it is) and now, Midnight Texas.

This has been all summer fillers. Waiting for the Fall return of things we normally watch.

Death Wish

Naturally, as soon as the trailer came out, the liberal reviewers lost their collective minds. "Angry white man vigilante". "Racist". "Bigoted" "tone deaf" etc., etc. This is set in Chicago.

When the original Charles Bronson film debuted, set in NY in 1974, the NYT had this to say, "it's a despicable movie. One that raises complex questions in order to offer bigoted, frivolous, over simplified answers."

Not much has changed in 43 years.!!

Nice to see Erick Dane returning this season after time off from production while battling depression.

Last Ship -fourth season launches with a two-episode premiere at 9 PM Sunday, August 20.

Atomic Blonde

Well last night was date night for us, Michele has been wanting to see Atomic Blonde staring Charlize Theron...heck yeah, I'm in! :D

All I can say is wow...This kick butt Cold War-era spy thriller is set around the fall of the Berlin wall. It's directed by David Leitch -one half of John Wick’s directorial team and features a great 80's pop culture soundtrack. The fight sequences alone make it worthwhile, and those "make out" scenes ...well leave the kids at home for this one.

I say if you dig the Bond type of movies this is a must see

New Star Trek

CBS has a new Star Trek series coming out. This will be on the pay channel, so it will be interesting to see how many Trekkies will (or are able to) pay to watch.

I think Frank and Ernest said it best this morning:

I didn't even know that CBS had a pay channel...I grew up on Star Trek so I'll buy in on it....Did they say who was writing or producing the new series?
