I know Im asking this at the last minute for myself.
Im bringing in my 2010 on Friday for the recall.
My question and there are 2. One I think I know the answer to.
I believe my system is linked, but Im not 100% sure.
Now assuming it is.
Is there any advantages to asking the dealer to delink the brakes????
Or is linked in reality better??
All I know for sure is Im a primarily a rear brake user. Adding fronts as needed coming to a complete stop.
My front rightside pads wear faster then the front lefts. I think this is due to them being linked.
Any answers will be appreciated so I can make a decision, if given the choice on Friday.
Thanks Jay

Yes Jay, your MotorTrike has linked brakes. As for delinking I really can't think of any advantage as long as all the HONDA pieces and parts play together nicely. Breaking power wise I don't see any advantage. Use you back brake and add front as necessary.

Remember the 70/30 rule with the GL1800 linked brakes.

Back peddle puts 70% of breaking power to the rear and 30% to the front. Exact opposite is true what using front brake handle. If you use both with equal force you get the best of both worlds. I rode my MoterTrike Adventure 50,000 miles using the rear brakes as primary and adding front as needed. In a panic I nailed both at the same time. Man, that sucker will stop fast if brakes are good and technique is better!! :D:D :xszpv::xszpv:

As usual you are the one I expected to come up with the answer I needed to hear.

I do use the brakes more in the manner you described then I guess I did.

Rear and front but a touch more rear for me.

Thanks Jerry ...........off to Honda we go.
