Messed up the trike, Warning, a little gory.

Man, stay from the site for a couple of days due to being busy remodeling the master bath and I come back to find this!! Glad you are OK and were not hurt worse! Heal swiftly my friend.

I agree, been busy with PGR stuff and wow, I'm sure sorry to hear about this happening. I know how you feel, got beat up pretty bad myself in a wreck in 02. I hope you and your wife mend fast and your trusty steed repaired. Ride safe.

Hurray! Looks brand new, correct! Time to take it for a shakedown run to make sure everything is OK.
How are you doing? All healed and ready to rock & roll! Wife's bruises all better, with no complications?
Enjoy your summer!

Rosy

You are a poster child for the reason I ware a full face modular. I sit there thinking, I don't need a helmet now that I'm on a trike. Then I say to myself, Do I really want my face going thru that windshield when I hit something?? (Parked truck, left turning car) Looking at you has reafirmed my decision to ware my full face instead of my 1/2. Thanks for the post.

Well, we gotta go back to the shop. Had the risers added and the cable is not quite long enough.
Get a racing throttle when I turn hard right.
Rats.

The older I get, the farther back I follow vehicles like 1 foot for every year of my age 78 feet is a little bit to far back. Hate all the cars pulling infront of me all the time. Well, I just hang back a little less than 78 feet. Hope it continues to work for me.

I used to drive semi-trucks have been to a lot of safety meetings. A rule of thumb we were instructed to use for following another vehicle was to pick out a fixed object by the side of the road. When the vehicle in front passes that object begin slowly counting: one thousand one...one thousand two...one thousand three. If you pass the roadside object before reaching one thousand three you are following too close and may not have room to stop if the vehicle in front brakes suddenly. I've used this method for so long now it has become automatic. Of course I would adjust for road conditions, weather, incline, load weight etc. and back off more when conditions dictate.ThumbUp

I sometimes feel stupid that I had this accident, however if anyone else can heed the warning, there is some good from it.
I wasn't so much following too close as I lost concentration just long enough to be surprised... looking around.

I sincerely hope this can save someone the disaster that I had to deal with.

My wife has decided that she does not want to ride any more. We will sell the trike.

Mike

It's too bad you're wife decides to get rid of the trike over something that first was your own fault, but something we all do at times a need a reminder like this to keep us on on our toes. Any one of us could be in your shoes today as we are all just as guilty. I almost had the same thing happen, a pickup on a two lane hi way stopped to make a left hand turn, and the brake lights were either not working or smoked. I just had room on the right side, even tho its illegal, to get by without damage. Scared bejesus out of me tho. It was partly my fault because I wasn't paying attention, but the trucks brake lights( or lack thereof) were a contributing factor also. Either way it would have hurt! Ride safe.
