Merry Christmas Everyone! I was headed home from Kentucky yesterday and got as far as Texarkana when my alternator went out. I made it to Marshall Texas around midnight before my Tahoe died on me and had to get a room for the night. There were no auto parts stores or repair shops open, but I did get a hold of a batter charger this morning and I'm hoping to get enough charge in my battery to make it home, but have my doubts since I'm still about 3 1/2 hours away from home. Guess I will give it a shot and see what happens.... hopefully I wont wind up by the road.

Been there, done that, need to find parts store or garage.
A charge will not get you very far before it dies at a place you may not want to be.
Good luck on Christmas Day!

Rosy

Now that sucks!.... Maybe santa will stop by and lend a hand...or a reindeer. :Santa: Hope you make it home safely.

Merry Christmas to you Randy (?), well it will be merry if you make it home, right? Wishing you all the luck to make it happen. Be safe getting back home.......

Ironically, the alternator light first came on in Hope Arkansas. You think God has a sense of humor? I told him I HOPE I dont get stranded by the road in the middle of nowhere, somehow I knew I wouldn't? The truck finally quit as I was just coming into Marshall, TX and I coasted a good 1/4 mile down a long hill, though a yellow light and rolled to a stop in a gas station. Could have been a lot worse so I'm counting my blessings.

Only problem with just charging is that with all the electronics on the car, once you get below certain voltage, it messes with the computer and it won't run worth a crap. If Walmart opens today at 6 you might buy a second battery to double your range.

That sucks Chief! Good luck be safe.

So sorry Zook. Just stay positive, which is very hard to do in your prediciment, say a prayer and hope for the best. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

You and yours are in my thoughts Zook, Take the time to make sure it's right, the gamble jus isn't worth the hassle.
Afresh 14" of snow in my part of the world at least you don't have that to hinder you.

Wow! A strange and frustrating turn of events my Friend.
Sorry to hear of Murphy's Law rearing its ugly head on your Parade. Especially now.
Hopefully today will bring a swift solution and safe return Home. ThumbUp

I made it home yesterday afternoon. I had removed the fuse for the daytime running lights to keep the battery drain as low as possible and gave the battery an overnight charge before heading out. Fine folks here...thanks for the offer to trailer me home Jr (Trail Blazer).

Too many folks around here for you not to call! Or anyone that needs help in the E. Texas area...

Belated Merry Christmas to you & Marge.

I will bet that it would not have messed up anyone's Christmas. Good folks here. And in keeping with the season, what better gift than reaching out to help our fellow man? Glad you got back home. As my riding buddy says, you don't have problems, you have adventures. I will bet you got to spend some great time with the wife.

Happy new year

steve

Yep I wasn't really upset over it, just one of those things. As for time with my wife, Marge was at home waiting for me. I was alone on this adventure and had been gone for 3 weeks. It was good to get home.

Glad to see you finally made it home Randy!!! That's a heck of a way to get out of playing Santa though.... :xszpv::xszpv:. I'm sure Marge will forgive you.....

A word to the wise,,,take receipts for repairs, towing and anything else, especially if the wife is red headed...Don't ask how I know..lol...avoided lots of explaining. Steve
