Maintenance With Floorboards

Any maintenance problems such as changing oil, raising trike up in air or any other routine maintenance that floorboards on the trike would make more difficult than if you had no floorboards at all? Are certain makes of kits make servicing the trike worse than others?

By the simple fact that there will be additional material in place, some things will be more difficult. Anytime you would need to get to the underside of the trike it will be a bit more difficult. I have told many riders the answer to doing minor maintenance on a trike (with or without running boards) is to build these simple ramps. They get the trike up to where you can get underneath for inspection or maintenance. They also make getting any sort of jack under the axle or chassis. I've found on my Roadsmith that except for removing front cowl or working on lower part of heads that the running boards don't affect much for me. Changing oil and filter OK. Work behind side panels ok.

They do make reaching under bike more work and Gold Rush is right about lifting trike to accommodate more easily.

I do feel the benefits of having them outweigh the negatives substantially. YMMV I do not know about other brands.

So my bike jack will probably be of little use if any on a trike
