This last weekend, I rode to GWRRA's Alabama rally. In route, and while there, I took the opportunity to stop and talk to a couple of trike shop owners. When it comes to maintaining a GL1800s, most shops offer a lot of services. Most do oil and oil filter, brake pads, air-filter, rear end fluid, coolant changes, batteries, tires, spark plugs, brake and clutch fluid, running lights, and suspension.

However, when it comes to challenging diagnosis or repairs, or maintenance items that require a higher skilled technician, such as valve adjustments, most will not do. None that I talked to have the equipment to pressure test the cooling systems, bother with lubing the clutch or brake levers, or even check thumb control lighting when doing a service.
