Hello, I would like to tell ya a story, I bought my stallion in july 14.after driving it home i found out the front tire is cupped really bad.the previous owner had the front bearings replaced 3 k earlier. I let it go and rode it a little. Now last weekend I decided to fix the front tire, get the bike akk solid on jackstands and ramps. I'll start with the disc bracket adjustment arms, all four bolts were stripped, get out the dremel tool cut off the old bolt on right side, was able to get the left side off by using a pipe wrench and unscrewing the rod. finally that is done, go to take off the shock bolts and disc brake bolts off, wont budge, had to get my air impact to remove them.

ok i get the wheel assembly on the ground and start taking off the left swingarm ok wait there is a big gouge in the shock tower mount on swingarm look at shock and there is almost a hole worn through the shock housing. this is like this is like this on both sides. back to axle ok swingarm washer, spacer, looks good, right side swingarm, no washer and spacer is welded to axle, try to pull axle out will not come out get out brass punch still will not come out. finally i split the hub from the wheel. start cleaning out grease, what is this inside the hub there is a wheel seal mangled on the shaft inside the hub, take this off the shaft comes right out, how the ??? did this get inside there.

To tie part of this story up. I will need a complete new hub assembly with all new bolts and it looks like a new pair of shocks. I haven't contacted TBS to see a price, didn't want to have a stroke when I found out the price. Sorry this is sooo long

Thanks for support
I can get a whole new hub 16 hundred or send mine in and only get the parts I need:xzqxz: also the swing arm shocks hitting the swing arm is due to failure of the rubber insert bushing because of the weight. tbs said maybe they could be replaced. can you sell me them, answer no new shocks 125 oh and don't forget the rear pivot bearings in the down tubes all new nuts and bolts, throw in new nuts and bolts.
will be over 2k+:gah:.

I also found out that I don't have #146
but #222.
enough for now

Sounds like the previous owner really went through your trike:AGGHH::AGGHH:. Did you get your Stallion from the owner or a dealer? The trike, by the way you talk might of been wrecked:Shrug:. Hope you can get it back together because the Stallion is a blast to ride. Good luck!

I have an '08 with 48K. I had one of those swing arm bearings go out once. This allows the wheel to flop to the left or right, depending on which bearing goes out. When brakes applied the bike will jerk violently in that direction and I rode it over a thousand miles like that. Don't know how I got home without wrecking. There was enough of the bearing left that I got the number and ordered two, they were about $45. on line. They are somewhat of a bugger to change. There is no way to get behind the bearing to press it out. Only the outer race was left in the downtube. I took a dremel tool and ground it thin in one spot and removed it pretty easy.

I had some cupping on the tire on the right side prior to that. I did adjust the left downtube down a bit, but I was unable to determine if that did anything to the cupping.

About 20K later I had a rattling sound somewhere in the rear suspension. I was unable to determine where it was coming from. I made an appointment with the factory and took it to them with about 43K. I was mainly there to get the rattling addressed in the rear suspension. I also mentioned that the front tire was cupping on the right. Long story short, they spent more time with that than with the rattle. They replaced both hubs and downtubes and even the fender, don't know why. It felt like a new machine after all that. They spent almost 2 days on it. As of this writing it is still smooth as silk.

Well I thought while I have the front hub all boxed and shipped off to tbs
I would check the neck bearings and grease them well when I took off the fork tubes I found out they are different. the caliper strut adjustment ears on the forks are different sizes and offset differently, the ear mounts are 1/8 inch thick on one side and the other side is 1/4 inch. the funny thing is they were replaced under warranty at 15k by a motor trike dealer. the previous owner provided me with all the stuff that was done. a lot of front work 3 sets of bearings brakes ect. haven't got to the steering head bearings yet.

I am going to have to get a loan to get the front end done.
not really but where does it stop:gah:

Yep does sound like someone was in there and did not get the parts matched correctly.

I know this is way out there but it might be worth while to trailer it back to the factory and have it done right. As previously mentioned they do good work and it would be done right.

I believe unit 146 was a first run demo and unit 222 was a production model. 222 was probably built in mid to late 2008. 146 was built in late 2007. The first 30 to 50 where built a demos for the dealers before they started filling orders. We had 175 that was built in January/February of 2008. It took a couple of weeks to build back then because of the laidup fiberglass body.

Dragon, Like Gorilla said...PLEEEESE take it back to TBMS. The factory will correct any problems found. They are the builder and know the machine like no one else. Their name is on it and they will stand behind it. ours is 2009 # 531 and like Hobgood & Gorilla said it is one awsome machine. good luck and let us stallion owners know the outcome.ThumbUp

well for those of you who said send it to tbms. I shipped my hubs off to get fixed. they had them a month and I get them back the hubs where the disc rod ends attach, they will not fit. rod ends will not fit over the mounting studs. and I unwrap the axle, my old axle with the old spacer and two new axle nuts which will not screw on the axle. they beat off the spacer with a punch and left marks all over the axle then they just ground up the spacer so it would fit back on the axle. the spacer would not even slide back on the axle in spots and this is how it was shipped back to me.

I could not even drive this a thousand miles without the seal and bearing going out again. this is not good workmanship and whoever rebuilt my hub should be fired. I will tell Richard this if the front desk people will ever put you through. and they return your calls, never. I have also ordered some things that were never shipped and I had to call back to see what happened and get them on there way again

another chapter in the lonely stallion sitting on blocks.

Well I told Richard what I thought and all he did was give me the runduround bullshit. another response was my axle was within spec. maybe depending on where you measure. still does not explain why it has punch marks all over the surface and the spacer has been ground on to fit. Well I just said mail me a brand new axle with 2 new spacers. ok Richard will send this right out. now for the good part I get my axle today and the spacers are new then I open up the axle one side is completely ruined where the bearing wore a grove in the axle and the spacer put gouges and spin marks where the bearing exploded. I almost threw it through the trike I was so p$$$
I call Richard and get he will call you right back. :kpzxvq: so I wait until the end of the day and call back again, they said he didn't call you? no wait I will get him. I waited and waited then finally he answers. I go through the story again with him and he would say I don't know how this could happen we don't carry used axles here so I tell him to go get me a new axle yourself inspect it and send it. another bullshit response was I just can't go get parts this is management stuff, send me pictures I ranted long enough for now I am sure there will be more to follow

Totally awful, how anyone run a business that way? It make no sense at all. Seems this jerk is going out of his way to piss you off.

I'm going to Dallas in a few weeks and I do plan on driving down to TBMS. It should be interesting on how they treat me and how they answer my questions. I know every time I call and ask about something, either they don't return the call or deny anything ever goes wrong with their product. Yes I am very nice when I speak with them and always thank them when they do help me.

hello
finally got all my parts and have put everything back together.
drives nice but now I have a brake problem, front rotors could
fry and egg after 5 miles. add another problem to the list, will it ever end

Sounds like the pucks are hanging up causing drag. Might try a good cleaning or you might need to replace the gaskets and o-rings.

Thanks
that is what I thought also, so I took the calipers and extended the pucks a little
and then cleaned them with tooth brush and brake cleaner. put it all back together
still have same problem. next time I took the calipers off extended them out an inch
and polished the pucks with 2000 grit paper and them put them back together again,
was a little better but still doesn't work. called tbms to see about rebuild kit, don't
have one? yet. how much are new calipers 500 hundred:AGGHH:. has anyone rebuilt a set of front
calipers. can I get the parts locally.

Thanks Dragon
