Have been trying to sort out putting a light inside the Tour Pak for night time maneuvers. Realize HD has one but do not want to mess with the wiring and then always wonder if the switch is actually working. Thus am thinking a stickon battery powered type led would be the way to go.
Thus has anybody successfully done this ?

Not in my tour pack, But I do use one in one of my closets, It's a small stick on one and it works great..ThumbUp

Go to CustomDynamics.com and look under boats/interior lights.

4 led bunk light. It swivels can use a 9 volt battery to operate.

I have one in my tourpack works great. Used some 3M double sided tape to mount.

KuryAkyn has a unit, #1626 Clix L.E.D. Pods which does exactly that. I have not got one yet but I plan to. It runs on 3 AAA batteries and claims up to 100 hours of battery life.

I've tried one using double sided tape on the inside of the lid of the TP. All attempts eventually ended in the double sided tape failing...probably from heat beating down on the lid.

I've already run the wires to the TP for a USB power port, and will probably split off of those wires for a light on the side. Not going to try the lid again.

I like the Harley Tour Pac light system. I had it in my CVO Ultra and the 2013 Tri-Glide and now in my 2015 Tri-Glide. One of the best things I like about it,is if you forget to turn it off; it shuts off automatically in 15 min. I have also had the light system in my trunk on my 2013 Tri-glide, but felt that I did not use it as much.

Not sure what tape your using but my 3M vehicle molding tape has been holding my light setup and battery up inside the tour pack lid for almost 7 years now.

I've used that tape before and it works great. It was for a slightly different use, but after 2 1/2 years it's still holding strong. I wanted to put mud flaps on the trike, but didn't care for the two bolts that show. Put the tape on the mud flap and let it sit for a month or so during the winter months with some weight on it to make sure it bonded well. When it finally warmed up enough I ran a bead of silicone caulking around the outside of the tape to keep water out as much as possible. Stuck the flaps on and they've been through heat (+105°) cold, rain, and everything in between and are still on.

I purchased an LED light at a sprouting goods store that was on a headband. Took it off the headband and glued Velcro to it. It sticks to the side of the tour pack. I can pull it out and use it anyplace. I guess if you wanted, you could hot glue it to the tour pack lid but, with any aftermarket set up changing batteries needs to be considered.

2014/15 Tri-Glide > Adding the 12 volt aux power port P/N 69200826 to the tour pak is an easy job! I can charge my phones and stuff while riding. For the light get a rechargeable LED cigarette lighter flashlight.

I always have a light with this combo .... which works for finding stuff in the trunk!

Last night trolling through Home Depot -- found a led /battery/stick on that looks exactly like the Kuraykn version--- $4.50 on sale -- procured several for both the wife's bike and mine --- we will be lit up! :pepper::pepper::pepper::pepper:

Now I need to find some of that 3m auto tape

I've tried in the past, but have never found any tape to really hold up for any lenght of time - due to heat. Now I carry a small LED flash light in the lid organizer (can also be used off the bike too). Believe it or not, I haven't used it in over 5 years.....never needed to....there's always been enough light to see.

Now the trunk is a different matter. I bought a set of 3 LCD lights, 3" dia. at Home Depot. Then some carpet tape to install them - they are the tap on/tap off kind. The carpet tape works a whole lot better the 3M tape. ThumbUp 6 months and still holding.
