LED's for the rear

Here is a quick little project that really gives you a lot more stop light viability.

I bought an LED light strip from Oznium called a Beefy Strip and decided to give my rear braking lights a little more visibility.

Super Strong Flexible LED Strips

I cut it down to fit in the space under the rear trunk door. It fits in there perfect and its waterproof so it looks like it is a great way of getting more stop lights lit up for rear end protection.

Here are a couple of photos of it when it is off and on.

Very nice team5150. I did a similar thing with the pick up truck light strip that you get from JCWhitney ($49). This would be the strip under the tail gate on a full size pickup. The light strip fits perfectly across the bottom on my trike body and provides lots of LED lighting facing (full width of trike) to the rear (used small black head sheet metal screws to fasten to trike in addition to the glue strip). Running lights, directional lights (half of the strip left or right) and brake lights. Very easy to install.

The beefy strip can be cut anywhere along its length. It came as a 38" srrip and I cut it to the width of the trunk opening with a pair of wire cutters and then sealed it with black weatherstripping adhesive.

I could have hooked them up to the stop light wiring but instead I just ran the wire through the floor and hooked them up to my trailer hitch plug. I won't use them when I have the rack on the back so I can just unplug them and hook them back up later.

I'd like to know how to hook yu the led's on the bike. Do you just splice into a wite in the tail light?
