Late nighters---unite!!!

Do you stay up days when you're off, or stay on the reversed sleep schedule?
I do stay up and sleep at night on days off. On the evening before I go back to work, I will sleep a couple of hours before I go in. It's kind of like having 3 days off.

I did the same thing.

About 4 A.M. I felt like I was hitting a brick wall. I had a 65 mile trip each way to work. On the way home, I found a big oak tree in a country church parking lot that was about half way. I would pull under it and take a short nap most every day. One day I woke up and the parking lot was full ! There was a funeral service.

People were looking at me as they went into the church. That was the last time I stopped there.

Now that's funny!!!

I only have a 5 mile trip home now. For about 2 and a half years, I drove 71 miles each way to work. It sucked. I was working 2am to 10am at that time. That was one of the worst drives of my life. Ugh!! That was over 10 years ago.

After that office, I transferred to an office 30 miles away, then one 12 miles and my last office was 1 1/2 miles away. Since retirement, I usually turn in between midnight and 3 A.M. and get up between 7 and 10 A.M.

During the Summer when I was still in school I would stay up and watch the Steve Allen show until 1 A.M.

The guy was a genius!. Also one of my first musical influences.

Time to go for tonight. I might check in during my nightly 4 A.M. "call".

I'm guessing that corresponds with my noon 'call'. ThumbUp

I don't sleep as much as I would like. I try to shoot, fish and hunt when I can. I also like to spend time with my wife doing weekend trips when we can both get off from work. We made our first Trike Talk gathering this year enjoyed that and are looking forward to more.

I say sleep, but I have 2 special needs kids that I take care of during the day. I sleep in the evening after my wife gets home.

This is my Friday, so I won't go to sleep much, if any, tomorrow until a normal bedtime. UNLESS, I get a call for some O/T. I'm number one on the list, so we shall see.

The wife and I are empty nesters, son is grown and has his own family. We are looking to retire in about 2 years, me from the federal side and her from the state side, she is a hearing officer in one of our local facilities.

We won't ever be empty nesters. My youngest will be staying with us until either we pass or she does. Even at age 11, she is becoming a handful. I'm hoping she will settle down a little after puberty. Her neurologist seems to think that's very possible.

Dumb me---I didn't read past the 'empty nester' part...I've got 8 years until I'm forced to retire from the feds, and she has to work 11 more and she is eligible. I'm a CO and she's a nurse.

Mine is in Wisconson , wish he was closer I miss him a lot. Hope you have a good shift, I'm off to bed have to get up in a few hours and finish some trim work in the living room. Should be done with our house remodel in about 2 weeks, been working on it for almost 3 years.

Seems like our house is under some kind of constant remodel.

Sleep well...if I'm called for overtime I might see you tomorrow night.

IN OTHER NEWS---

We will soon be welcoming a new member to our family...a ragdoll cat. She's 18 months old, just finished bringing up a litter of kittens, so she's being retired from the breeding business. The lady started off at $800 a few weeks back. Over time, she has softened her stance and came down to $300 today. I can live with that. Especially since we went to the pound last month and adopted one that died 3 days later from pneumonia.

We were devastated. That poor little cat had won us over in a very short time. It was sick the second morning, took it to the vet and it just got worse. Took her back the third day, and the doc said she had about a 30% chance of survival, and that would if we spent $400-600 on her, after the $400 we had already spent. I had the poor girl put to sleep. At least the cat we are getting now is guaranteed to live for 2 years. I know it sound terrible not spending the money to possibly keep the cat alive, but I just couldn't do it not knowing if she would pull through. When the vet comes in, looks you in the eye, and says he wouldn't take the chance, you pretty well know.

Below is a link to the cat we are taking in. If you scroll down below 'Available' the first two pics you come to are her. The name they gave her is Natasha. We are changing it...to what I don't know.

Good evening...or good morning, depending on how you look at it. Working overtime on the holiday. Nope, not getting double time and a half. I am getting paid for the holiday, but I would've gotten paid for it whether I worked it or stayed home.

Sorry you got called in, I'm off just woke up, can't sleep.

I've been distracted. I'm reading up on health insurance plans offered here during open season. I've had BC/BS for the last 12 years. People are telling me GEHA is better. I'm going to have to get the plan info books to compare side-by-side.

Don't be too sorry. It was an easy night to make $350. :D

I've got BC/BS for coverage no problems so far. Why do you not get double pay for working a holiday ? On the subject of your new cat how about Miss Kitty for a new name, my last cat was named Orphan Annie, mother deserted her, had to hand feed her for a few days. Didn't someone post that you had the Mid Step on your Tri Glide, how do you like that?

Liking the Mid Step really well. Daughter can get on bike easily now. So can I. :D

As for the cat, the woman selling her is trying to extort me for more money. Saying she has had two more offers for more money all of a sudden. She won't return calls or texts now. Getting pissed.

And I get paid for 8 hours for today whether I work or not. So working today is additional time and a half because it's above my normal 40 hour week.
