Just A Thought On The New Freewheeler Performance In Stock Configuration

When we test road the Freewheeler trike last month before buying I noticed a few things.

1. It had plenty of power smooth throttle response no hick ups and tons of torque.
2. The stock muffler tone was pretty darn good nice and throaty considering there maintaining a legal tone. To me the Freewheelers mufflers are some of the better sounding stock mufflers I have heard on a Harley ThumbUp
3. The new air intake produces 15% more air according to Harley. If you look at it closely you will see a big screened opening with a snorkel design (pretty much a cold air intake).

With all this said I was pretty happy with the trikes factory performance. So I think I will leave it stock for a while and just put in a factory replacement K&N filter and ride.

Harley did a pretty darn good job with the Freewheeler in my opinion. Considering all the EPA rules while still being able to make the trike perform well in the stock configuration. Again ThumbUp

Just My Thoughts...

Just hit 2k this morning on mine. On the 90 mile ride west on I90 to HitchDoc I was thinking about how sweet the sound was from the stock slip-ons. I whole heartedly agree with you on these being the nicest sounding OEM mufflers.

Yep, got to agree with all of the comments. So far I have 2,700 miles and I am happy with the performance and sound. I have 2 sets of mufflers from my 2005 CVO in the garage, a pair of Harley Screaming Eagle and a pair of Hooker Tuneables. I tried both on the FLRT but went back to the stock FLRT mufflers. The Screaming Eagles were quieter than the stock FLRTs. The Hookers sounded good but at highway speed they droned and became annoying after a few miles. I think that is why I took them off the 2005. Will probably continue to run it stock for awhile.

Bill and all,

I too liked the Freewheeler performance-wise right out of the gate. But, it inspired me to want more...:D:D:D

And, I can say that with each upgrade/change.....I liked it even better...ThumbUpThumbUpThumbUp

LaNore (my FLRT) will never be an all-out performance/racing vehicle....just my scoot, the way I like it...:pepper::pepper::pepper:

I think my motor mods will end at a stage 2 level; but, who knows....

Gee, this sounds like what I've been preaching (and got flamed) for a while. I put the CFR slip-ons because I like noise and ride with ear buds BLASTING screaming rock and roll.

Ride it a while, see how it feels. You will never know how much of an improvement a 'MOD' makes if you didn't ride it stock first.
