Planned a simple 5 day, Boy's ride to the Smokey Mountains. One buddy was riding in from Kentucky, one from Alabama, and me from Florida. Just three old geezers on Trikes wanting to put some miles on during the day and sit around and tell some lies in the evening. First one of the guys sons signs on, then the other one. We were thrilled because we all know each other, plus them boys are good Harley riders. Then a couple more of our old buddies from Kentucky decide they want to come along......

Golden opportunity for two generations of Harley riders to put some miles on and spend some quality time together. There could also be some beer involved I'm guessing. Really looking forward to it.:pepper:

That sounds like a real good trip Joe. Maybe you can post up some pictures of your trip.

Not sure I can post pics since I'm not a paying member here. Since I posted the dang group has grown even bigger! My buddy from AL has a neighbor who wants to come along with his brother. This went from three to nine really fast! I still think it will be a great time.

Had a great week of riding. Had one cancel but 8 showed up. First day was the Dragon and my buddy from Alabama took the lead as we started. He got nailed by a deputy for speeding. The week before we arrived the deputy said they had 2 fatalities so enforcement had increased.

We rode several other areas during the four days. The three trikes noticed on the last day that we all had shortened the lifespan of our front tires significantly. So I guess we hit the twisties pretty good.

No one broke down and everyone got home safe. A trip to remember, hope to do it again.

Thanks guys, it certainly was a great run. The mix was three seniors on TGs, another senior on a Heritage, and four youngsters (late 40's to early 50's) on other 2-wheel Harleys. Retired and current professions were also a mix. We had two police officers, two off-shore oil rig workers, two marine industry workers, one military contract worker, and an electrician. What everyone had in common was the passion of riding. Of course it didn't hurt that we all didn't mind consuming a few beers at the end of the day either.

My TG buddy from Alabama that received the speeding ticket mailed it in after he returned home. It was a county ordinance violation and cost $20.00 with a non-reporting clause so it won't count points against his DL.

Just started planning my next long run. This one will just be the bride and myself up through Asheville NC then a little west before swinging south into MO and AL, then back around to Florida (just under 3,000 miles).

Joe, by any chance did you ride The 'Rattler' NC rte 209
We didn't get to do the Rattler this time up there. The day we were thinking about running it we ended up down on what the locals call the "Redneck Dragon". It is TN-32. The pavement is almost in perfect condition. We ran it pretty hard and only observed one vehicle on it the whole distance. At the end there is a gravel area you can pull off and park. The road turns to unpaved from that point on and just under 2 miles further it goes into NC. It was a great run. I'll probably go back to it in September with my wife for a slower sightseeing run.

Ronnie, since probably everyone in our group owned/road Hondas at one time or another you would certainly be welcome. You would just have to bring your own wrenches!
