I've done more HARM than GOOD!

Hi All,
This is my first time here, and I hope you can help me.
I'm a two-wheeler, but I need a rear rotor for a 2010 TriGlide. WHY?....you ask.

Well, in an attempt to help out a friend who has limited funds, I offered to replace the pads on his trike.....how hard can it BE.....right?

Well, he rode on a couple hundy mile trip with no problems, but next time out he had an obnoxious rattle and NO BRAKES.

I pulled the right rear wheel, and :gah: it appears as though I put the inboard pad on inside-out! The top 1/3 of the pad was worn away in a crescent/half-moon pattern....no biggy. HOWEVER, the end of the piston looked like it had been "hacked" off by many, many strikes of a very small hatchet!

I put the bike back together to "see what happens" and the brakes worked perfectly. No rattle, good braking power. Just VERY lumpy because of the huge chunks of metal that look like islands scattered all over the inner surface of the rotor.

Long story short.....I need to replace his rotor for him, as well as the caliper. Any ideas where I can get the best deal on these parts?

Thanks everyone, for your feedback.

Check Harley and see if they sell a piston rebuilt kit for the caliper.
Hayes makes the brakes maybe they could help you too if you contact them?
Ebay selling rotors but look like garbage.. If not Harley has rotors as a kit now..about 2 bills..Good Luck..Hope all goes well..

Well.... there is always this.

Clean it up as best you can, repair the caliper and take it in for the service bulletin about the rear disk replacement when they squeak..

Naaaaa... I would never say or advise such a thing. Shame on me.
