My buddy is trying to get out of town on his bike but he has the following problem.

I haven't looked at the bike yet but im putting out what happened to get some ideas.

"Serious problem with the bike. I have a short which is blowing the fuse for the radio and turn signals and the Reverse indicator is rapidly flashing. May not be able to make the upcoming trip. "

Any ideas

OH BOY !!! That could be a fun one... About all you can do is got out the wiring diagram and ohm meter then start tracing the short until you find it. If you don't have a service manual, send me you email address to goldrush06@suddenlink.net and I'll send a couple pages out of my '06 service manual that may help... If it's the fuse I think there are a couple other fuses you could remove that might speed up the troubleshooting..

Good luck on this one.... :xszpv::xszpv:

Wiring is fun! Start with the easiest thing first. What I mean by that is wiring you can get to without tearing off the plastic which in this case is not very much. If you can get a wiring diagram for the 1800 it should give you what needs to come off so you will be able to check which wire have grounded. Good luck with your search.

I'd start at the trailer wiring plug/harness if there is any and work forward, particularly looking at add-ons. Also could be a crimped or frayed wire in the handlebar switch sets as it is related to the turn signals being engauged. Has he changed the grips before? Lately?

Tell 'm to go straight ahead and don't make any turns..... Don't forget the Ipod....

1800 problem

I had similar problem on mine and it ended up
Being a naked wire touching frame. Causing fuse to blow. I traced it down by TEMPERARILY putting a larger fuseto isolate problem to right turn signal and found naked wire hope this helps

We found the problem, but now he has another one....
He did an air filter change
Not the reverse light blinks...
what did he forget to plug back in

Rule number 1:
Never do a service just before a trip. :(

That said, I did my filter a few weeks ago and cannot remember anything that had to do with any lighting that needed to be unplugged. The reverse lights are part of the conversion and NOT the OEM lighting. Was there a plug of some sort that was part of the plug and play conversion wiring that he maybe messed with??

I believe Claude is talking about the GL1800 Reverse activation light. Seems to me there is a controller up in there that plays in that operation. I'd say pull the shelter top off and check all the connections. Might even look for bent pins....

Glad you located the other issue Claude!! :xszpv::xszpv:
