That big box I've been waiting for finally arrived about noon today. Ya know the one that has BIG Roadsmith logos on all 4 sides! Already had Ultra pretty well disassembled, reverse installed, & ready for the instilation -- except for the primary case. Yep -- the Honda guys have the advantage there. Just swap drive shafts. Not that replacing the drive belt is hard, just takes time, but that's done. Broke my big breaker bar a while back -- sure could hace used it! Got dark on us while we were trying to get the new swing arm in, so decided to wait for daylight tomorrow AM. Will be riding tomorrow!! YEA!!! Starting to think 'Pest is more excited about the build than I am. She should have some pix to post by the time the dust settles tomorrow.

Glad to hear that your trike kit arrived, and your well on the way with the installation. Looks like the weather tomorrow will be good for a ride, just in case you get-r-done.

Happy Triking :D

Hey congrats on getting the kit in, now get the hammer and start putting it together :D oh don't forget the glue and nails
Make sure u post some pictures for us... and be careful...

have fun

It's a trike! Still have to bolt body down & do the wireing, but couldn't wait -- ran it around the block without the body. Didn't know I had a hitch hiker hanging off the back. Son dicided I shouldn't make "maden voyage" alone. Had I known he was back there I would have taken it a little easier, but once I got around corner, I just HAD to crank it a little. Longer exhausts are probably going to need some tuning. Gotta put Triglide triple tree on -- that steering sux, but I am now a triker!!

I uploaded a few pictures in my album. New to all this so the pics are in reverse order. Will figure out how to correct that later. The boys will finish up tomorrow and if I am a good girl I will get a ride. She will still need her paint job but I want some ridin' first cuz that paint will take more time than I would like to give it right now.
;)
I will never forget the look on our son's face when they drove back into the driveway. I don't know which of them had more fun but I sure do know our son's heart was beating a mile a minute and the smile on Naug's face made my heart sing!!!
:D
All you trikers are very special and I am so happy the ol' man found you guys!

Uh OH!, we're in trouble now! 'Pest has started posting. She's been lurking for quite a while. Knew she couldn't keep quiet forever!

OH MY GOODNESS.........LOOK AT YOUR CRAZY SON HANGING OFF THE REAR END!!!!!!!:drama:

The pictures are wonderful, and you guys are absolutely whipping that trike into shape :). You will love the steering when you change out the front end to the triglide rake though. Congratulations on joining the triker family 100%. Guess my only question is.........how long before your son wants a trike too?

OH yes, Lil Pest, the only way to get the pictures in front to back order is to load them backwards, so you did fine with them!

Congrats or the new arrival. Did you sleep in the garage? I know I would be . Just kidding. Good luck with the build, looks great so far! Enjoy Jim and Mary. :)

Even with the EZ Steer the steering is gonna feel a little strange for a while compared to the two wheeler. It takes a little time for your brain to quit trying to counter steer it like a two wheeler. After a few miles you get used to the feel of it and pretty soon it's as if you've been riding a trike all your life!! You and Pest are gonna LOVE that thing!!! You'll be surprised at how well it actually handles!!

Congratulations on getting your kit. I hope you know I am envious and happy for you at the same time. How do I get to your allbum to view the pictures? I am having some difficulty trying to find them.

Windyone. The albums are all on the person's profile page. Click on Lil Pests' name anywhere (like on her post). It will open her profile page. Albums are on the lower right side of the page/screen. Enjoy!

Thanks Nana now I can find albums when I need to. I'll learn this forum yet. ;)

Great pictures Pest! looking at them convinced me that I am correct in knowing I am not able to build my own trike. Physical limitations, building space and mechanical ability hold me back. Sure enjoying seeing how it is done though.

Winydone; Over on the Honds Trike Forum you'll find a thread by SmokinJoe titled "The Build". He did a great job of keeping pjhotographic record of his build. He used the same brand kit I did (Roadsmith) only he put it on a Honds instead of a Harley like I did. There is quite a bit to it, but nothing realy dificult. It's a pertty straight forward build with the instructions Trike Shop sends with their Roadsmith Kits.

Nana: Has I known he was back there ---- Wheelie time?? He's an avid Snow Boarder & sofar, he hasn't made it up to "The Mountain" (Mt Charleston) yet this season. SOOooooo -- !!

Son is home -- back to it!!

Welcome to posting Lil Pest. You are going to have one mighty fine ride there. Don't blame you for not wanting to wait for that first ride.

Put the last finishing touch on last night, but too many brews dictated that I wait 'till today to run a few miles up on the odometer. One of my favorite "toy stores" (like Harbor Freight, Lowes, Home Depot, Airgas Welding Supply, Sears Tool Dept, Mac & Snapon trucks, HD dealerships & etc) had something on sale I thought would work good in the trunk of the Trike, so off I went. I picked up on how the steering worked right off. Then too, growing up on a farm & being an Opperating Engineer Heavy Equipment Mechanic for most of my life taught me to hop off one piece of equipment & on another & not miss a beat. Steering is definitely "heavy" & wants to go straight instead of around corners, so the Triglide tripple tree will come in handy. Got back & asked 'Pest if she wanted a ride "around the block". When she came out with her coat on & helmet in hand, the trip around the block quickly became the LOONG way around the block. Got back & she made the comment; "It feels more like OUR trike instead of YOUR bike!". Hopefully, she'll post her feelings on her first trike ride. As for me -- well -- don't think you could get the grin off my face right now with Ajax!!

Congratulations on completing the trike conversion. Just in time for the early spring riding season that the southwest is famous for.

Happy triking:D

Congrats, NM! And I think you'd better build yourself a trike now. From the sounds of Lil Pests' post, you've lost this one.........unless you are willing to ride b**** :D

Verry kewl! Looks like yupu had fun doing the build. The Trike Shop (Roadsmith) is one of the few kit makers that will send the kit to individuals instead of one of their dealers. Looking forward to seeing pics after it comes back from paint.

Never fear, Nana, I'll get to keep the Ultra Roadsmith. It's engine is a "stage 2" meaning it has a heavy clutch spring that needs a gorilla grip to disengage -- a bit too much for her to handle repetedly. I MIGHT be in the market for another Sporty to convert once the Ultra is paid for -- or Son MIGHT be in danger of loosing his old 900 Iron Head! Nah, she'd want another Roadsmith & Trike Shop doesn't make Iron Head kits. Too bad I traded in the '06 XL883!! It was slated to get the 4.5 gal tank -- already had a new Saddlemen seat for "C" model. Hind sight is ALWAYS 20/20, huh?

Ozark; The really NICE part of the build was having Son & Son in Law help with NO confrontations! They sometimes get on each other's nerves, but not during the build. I'm looking forward to having it completed with the rear matching the front. Not sure I want to be witout it while the paint drys. I think my neighbor (rides a '09 Ultra) had a good idea. Drop the body off for paint, plug in a set of magnetic towing lights & keep on trikin'! Think I WILL see if I can get some more gas storage on board while the body is "in paint".

NM

Thanks, Zook! Tomorrow (Sat) she goes in for, what my painter calls, a "skuff & shoot". Put together the tow lights this afternoon so I can keeo on trikin' while the body gets pretty. Someone asked if I slept in the garage during the build. No -- no room! As a retired heavy equipment mechanic, I have the garage FULL of tools, equipment, parts, etc. That's why the build was out under the carport. She's been a trike now about a month & is pushing 1,000 miles real hard. Time to make her look GOOD!!
