IRS/CV/Axle

I have what I believe is a California Custom Trike. It has IRS, it is not a normal VW setup. The axle/cv joint is more like a vw cabriolet axle. In board cv can be unbolted, out board has to have outer spindle nut removed then axle comes out. No stub axle.

Does anyone know what cv joint, axle and boots were used on the Apex/California Trike? 20220507_121255.jpg20220507_121246.jpg

No direct knowledge about your trike.

Let's see pics of the brakes, hub, suspension arms.

Most German stuff had the same cv joint spline.

The entire rear suspension could easily be off a non-VW car. The axles look longer than beetle.

It was common to use early rabbit/golf parts.

I also keep going there.

Almost everything about it screams Jetta, golf, Cabbie.

Except..... the length of the stub axle/ splines.

Throws some doubt on it.

I have not found any direct info. But looking at pics it is discernable that they did not use the original beetle rear suspension at all. Had fabricated arms and coil overs. Beetles to hack up were probably getting hard to find....... so something more readily available was used.

Apex is not that long ago..... do they still exist?

Call them.
